"Gaining" during losing phase and "freak outs" about stalling

This is such an excellent  post - thank you for taking the time to write it.  My weight loss has slowed and nearly halted to a degree that I have moments that I just want to give up on my hope of ever being under 200.  But if I take a breath and look at the big picture, I am still losing...just not in that tidy consistent way that I did early out from surgery.  My pattern is similar to yours...and it makes me crazy.

I still weigh in every day.  My inner nerd demands the data.  Most days I weigh in, give the scale the finger and momentarily question why I own a scale,  and then hop on the treadmill.

Nutshell:

Lost 140 lbs with VSG. (Hooray!!)

got pregnant  (yeaaaa!)

got cancer (boooo!)

regained 40 lbs.   (grrrr!)

In summary: Alive & Grateful.

Dude. You've lost a LOT of weight in just 11 month. That's amazing. You'll totally hit onderland. I know you will. Just remember, it's just data, it's the overall trend you are looking for. xoxo

Just wanted to say thanks for posting.  I'm one of those freaking out over the scale.  And right now I'm dealing by not dealing...not trying.  Don't want to continue that, but afraid to put myself back into a bad place in my head and on the scales.

Lost 8 in about 2 weeks then bounced up one...stalled for 4-5 days...bounced up 3 more...no idea why, for real.  Making myself nuts so said screw it.  Up 3 more, then down 2...sigh.  I want the damn scale to move back down again, but I'm not sure how to do it without making myself nuts obsessing over food and those up and down fluctuations.

Opinion: If it's truly making you nuts, stop getting on the scale. Try to only weigh once per week. Or once every other week. If it puts you in a bad place, that's not good.

A LOT of people can't handle daily weighing. Like I said, for me, I have to detach from it and let it JUST be data.
