The key is to stick to low calorie high protein drinks, lean meats like shrimp, chicken, fi**** really is not hard to stay at 600 calories a day. :)

the calories i always did great with, the protein i can never get above 60 and my NUT wants me at 70-80. when i add more, the cal/carbs go up. she also only wanted me under 20 carbs. that's tricky too lol

Every gram of protein has 4 calories, so 90 grams of pure, no fat protein is only 360 calories. Every gram of carbs has 9 calories, so that same 90 grams of food if all carbs is 810 calories.  Big difference!  Fat has 4 calories per gram.  So 80 g protein, 20 g fat, and 20 g carb a day gives you 580 calories.  It's easy to see how careful we need to be to not overload on the carbs - those calories will add up fast and as Elina said, you'll be hungrier sooner.

I think you are a little confused on the fats/carbs. Carbs are 4, fat is 9.

That's what happens when you try to respond to posts on OH while listening to a painfully boring conference call at work!  Yep - carbs 4 calories, fat 9 calories.  But the point is still the same - 70-80 grams of protein is easy and leaves room for other nutrients as well.

Im on mfp as hollirrose. My goal is 60 protein and 600 calories. I usually get more than 60 probally closer to 70. My carbs range from 15 to 25. The last few days are not a good example because I have been a little short on my calories but I always get the protein. Add me!

My goal is 800 cal per day.  Now I'm wondering if I eat too much? Im on pureed food for another 2 weeks but I do get 80g of protein every day.

I'm supposed to hit between 600-800. Being a week out from surgery this is pretty hard, but I don't think it's too high, just depends on your dr approach. Unless you aren't losing, it's not too much...

Currently 180 - 76 lbs lost! Surgery 11/7/12, 36 years old, 5'8". I live in Hong Kong and it's a bit different here!

I still substitute one meal a day with a shake, eat ricotta bake for lunch because it's fast and easy for lunch and a lean high protein dinner. I'm 5 1/2 mos out and only have 27 lbs to go.
