I miss the bubbles!
NOthing much to add here, accept I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND. I drank 2+ liters of Diet Coke a day. I was very worried that I wouldn't be able to stop. I started a pre-op diet 2 months before surgery, partly to see what kicking the Diet Coke would be like. Surprisingly, to me, it really wasn't an issue. The "fear" was worse than the stopping. More like a habit than an addiction.
I haven't really read a story on the forums where someone couldn't do it.
I'm not three months post-op and occaisionally have a sip of my wife's DC. It's fine. Doesn't do it for me like it did 5 months ago. Doesn't trigger me into relapsing into a DC binge. The simple reality is that I can probably drink a can now and again - but I would have to go so slowly that it would be more hassle than it's worth at this point.
I can see having it in maintenance when I get there - but again, for life, it will probably be a much rarer occaision.
I do have a ****ested!) theory. A lot of overweight folks seem to really dig DC and DP. I sure did. It sure doesn't cause weight loss :). For me I feel like the "scouring action" of the bubbles and the taste kind of wiped out the flavor of anything i was eating. Personally, I think it caused me to eat more - my brain didn't register the taste of what i was eating once my mouth was cleansed with a gulp of DC.
Well, that's an experiment for another day!
