Supportive people in your life... let's hear about 'em...

I always see posts about family members that are less than supportive... I want to hear about the supportive people in your life. Who are they? What makes them so supportive to you? What does that mean to you?

I'll go first. My #1 is my husband. He does all of the cooking (I'm dangerous in the kitchen) and he's completely revamped how we eat as a family and when he makes something (like lasagna) he'll instead make a spin off of Eggface's ricotta bake for me so I don't have to pick around the noodles. He tells me I look great, makes me feel better about the down sides of WLS and is just generally my biggest support system.

My kids are the 2nd. They've been amazing. My almost 12-year-old lost a bunch of weight and is now a normal BMI. He also always has a hug or a smile or a compliment (he's SUCH his Dad's son in that way I suppose! LOL! Sweet talker!). One of my most fond memories was picking him up at school last year and he ran up, gave me a BIG hug and whispered in my ear "mom, my fingers touch when I hug you now!". My 9 year old daughter is my food sharer and always willing to split a plate when we go out, she also helps me figure out the clothes issues sometimes when I can't tell if something fits - of course, I think she might just like to go shopping because I always buy her something too. *laughing*

3rd are my amazing set of real-life friends. They always ask about me, always tell me I look good, always offer to split something at a restaurant - but most of all.... they just treat me like one of the gang still. They do all of that, but it's more of a normal thing and not a "Candy is special" thing.

... and, of course, you folks here. ((HUGS))

#1 is my husband - he's my cheerleader and my mirror and is so good about it when I get up at 5am to go swimming and wake up all the dogs.

My friends are also seriously awesome. I get nothing but positive reinforcement from all of them.

My mom and my sisters are also supportive and I know my mom is going to freak when she sees me in November. The last time we were together was pre-surgery.

Good hubbys are the best! LOL about the dogs... if I get up before mine, I make sure I keep the lights dim because he is a grouch if you wake him up... not that you could wake him up. The Macy's Parade could go through our bedroom and he'd sleep right through it.

My husband and I were living in New Orleans and he slept through Tropical Storm Cindy. I and the dogs were huddled in the bathtub.

*laughing!

YES! This would be my hubby... the man sleeps like the dead. I wake up if a strong wind blows, but the house alarm can go off because the dog tripped it, I can fall over and break a mirror and the dogs can jump on him and he'd STILL sleep through it.

Not that I'm bitter.

Much.

Oh! The work thing is SO important. I know a few here haven't been as lucky and had some pressures in that regard. You are so lucky to have them. So glad to hear good stuff!

My husband is #1. He is always positive and supportive...he has been known for a bit of tough love too, but it always what I need when I need it.

My kids are #2. My girls are struggling with losing and it is hard on my teenager that I am now a smidge smaller than her, but she is working it like a crazy person and she will get to a normal BMI before long. My son is the one who always tells me I look beautiful(my face cupped in his hands with a huge crooked smile and a sweet whisper). He also can now put his arms around me.
Number 3 would be my Momma and my immediate family. Although they don't say much, they are always supportive and handy with the sincere compliments. I need those.

Number 4 are my two best friends a girl could ever have. They are always there with praise and support of my victories...they have never tired of my "I lost a pound today" stories, they shop with me, they've changed the party food and drink we have for me, and they are my rock and support when I have a bad day. They do it all without asking because they know I WON'T ask.

All this thankfulness makes me want to grab a Kleenex. I couldn't have achieved as much as I have without all these wonderful folks...The people here on OH rock my socks too!

Yeah... I think the hardest part is that being obese IS a public struggle. It's not like we can hide our fat in the cabinet under the kitchen or we can just not go to bars. We have to be around food and our addiction shows.

Having folks that can give tough love and a hug when needed are truly invaluable. Thanks for sharing!
