Protein drinks are making me gag!!
Pre-op I really liked protein drinks but post-op they are horrible. Pre-op I drank the Premier Protein drinks and tried another one today and it has taken me an hour and a half to choke down 1/2! I have the big containers of vanilla and chocholate peanut butter Whey Protein from Walmart and can not stomach them either. I got some unflavored whey protein from GNC and have be adding that to soups and drinks and it is going better. Last night for dinner I took a can of cream of chicken soup with a cup of veggie stock and a scoop of the unflavored protein. It was quite tasty!! Only able to get about a cup down so that was only 10 grams of protein. Not once in my 14 days post-op have I met the 64 grams of protein a day. I'm lucky to get all my water in. My tastes have changes and no real hunger yet. Head hunger is in full swing though!!
Any advice or help is much appreciated.

Have you tried Unjury? May be worth it www.unjury.com

It's hard to meet your protein goals at first so don't worry you will get there. Just keep trying. Also on the protein you just have to keep trying too. I went thought so many and Unjury is a good one. Still it's expensive. I ended up with gold standard protein I got from the Vitamin Shoppe. They have Nectar there too...lots of people like that one. You can go buy a tub at Vitamin Shoppe and if you don't like it they will take it back. Same with GNC I think.

This early out it's almost impossible to get 60+ grams of protein. If you are getting in your fluids you're doing great.
Try a bunch of different protein drinks. It seems like a waste of money, but you need one that's not going to make you sick. I hated them all pre-op but found matrix post-op and love it. They are the ones who make the infamous mint cookie shake everyone raves about - and everyone was right! They also have chocolate, cookies and cream, strawberry, banana - you can order a sampler from bariatric advantage.
Hang in there -you're doing great!

you MUST go to mybariatricpantry .com and look for the MATRIX syntrax mint cookie, cookies and cream, banana cream...just order the sample pack and then order full sizes of the ones you like.
It took me 5 months to find a protein I could handle and actually *like*! They are SO GOOD!
good luck!

Have you tried Isopure? They have several flavors of clear ready-to-drink that are 40g of protein and 20oz of fluid. The grape tastes like Gatorade. They have been a great find. Maybe try going to GNC and getting samples of whatever brands you can and maybe you'll find something that way. Good luck!

I had a few in my cabinets that I started taking before surgery and liked, but now that I have had my surgery EVERYTHING tastes way too sweet! Like undrinkably sweet. I end up tripling the water amt and then can never drink it cuz its 24 ozs and I takes me 3-4 hrs to get down 8 ozs. I'm hoping that eventually my tastes will balance out in the next few weeks :/ I still have to wait another week before I can try my milk based protein shakes, so I hope that works out better for me than the nectars are so far. Good luck
