Scared
Not about the surgery, but I have been on my pre-op diet for 2 weeks now and I lost 6 lbs. What scares me is that last friday (the 10th) I went to Ruth Chris Steakhouse for my 10 year wedding anniversary and really tried to be healthy, but the slice of bread and the cheesecake were not part of my diet. Oddly enough it appeared that I didn't gain anything from that dinner (stayed at 282-283 for 3 days).
The scarey part is now I cannot get myself back on track. I need to get those last 4 lbs off and my head hunger is in full blast! I am scared that I won't do it and the surgeon will push out my date and I will never get to the losers bench. I found the shakes I like and I have been good (except the once) with my dinner, but my head just won't be quiet and I just finished off 6 protein bars. (Man were they good!)
How do I make it stop?

It's different for each of us.
But I will say that it is essential that you get there in your head. Commit. You are doing something for yourself that is going to change your life and you need to embrace it and be fully onboard before you go forward.
My surgery was on July 13th. My 2 week pre-op diet was not difficult, because I was "all-in". I decided which surgery, knew what was expected, and went for it.
During that time, I BBQed for everyone on the 4th of July, cooked 'regular' meals for my wife, a special steak and lobster dinner to celebrate a nephew's birthday, all the time, eating my 1,000 calorie liquid diet. I'd cook for them, then savor my soup.
I'm now on week 5 pre-op and have lost 47 lbs since I started my pre-op diet. I was down 23 on the day of surgery.
Remember why you are doing this--and it ain't no panacea. It is a tool that will kick-start you into you new life. Celebrate it, and celebrate your decision to do this for you.
That may make it easier.

Maybe freeze all of the bars except what you're supposed to have on a particular day. I know I won't eat frozen things (too much expensive dental work & and I don't like pain)
Also, see if there's anything at all that you're allowed all you want of (jello? Broth? Crystal light?) and stock up.
Surgery fixes your stomach, not your head, so you need to find a way to deal with the "but I wanna eat" issue or you're wasting your time having the surgery.
I know that sounds harsh, but it's the truth. You need to get this figured out for yourself.

I guess you are going to have to decide what you want more....cheesecake and bread or your surgery.
You are going to have to detox all over again and that takes 3 days to a week to do. Every time you eat carbs it will put you back to square one with the detox process.
You won't likely lose much eeight as long as you eat carbs...it is ready fuel and your body won't break down your stored fat for fuel.
6 rotein bars is a really bad way to get back on track. you need to drink huge amounts of water and whatever is on your plan and get a grip.
Is it easy? No. Can it be done ? yes. can you suck it up, get control and put on your big girl panties? Only you can answer that.
