My husband and I are going to my support group tonight and are going out to dinner.  This will be my first time since surgery.  My question is...I'm going to order soup, but would like to have a few bites of my husband's tilapia.  Can I have them at the same time? Since soup is a liquid of course, do I have to wait 30 minutes?  Would like to get this right:).

depends what stage you are at.. I was always told to do the liguids first when I had the lab band because it goes through faster...With the sleeve you need to do protein first....Are you at the soft stage?  you can smash the fish with your fork and forget about the soup all together...of course you wont be able to eat all the fish but you will have leftovers for another day.

Smash up the fish, put it in the soup and there you go!

Just remember, you can eat so very little that your eyes will almost certainly be bigger than your stomach.  I would just eat the soup first and then have a tiny bit of fish.  Just make sure you are under-eating as it is really easy to go overboard the first time you are eating out and that would make you very uncomfortable and could bring on foamies.

You are so right !  I ordered a cup of soup and I didnt even put a dent in it!  My husband gave me an ounce of Tilapia and I ate half!  It was a good first experience!

Perfect, absolutely perfect!  Eating out will not always be like this, it will feel  a great deal more normal the further out you get.  No hurry, take your time, these are the good times so don't rush anything.  I am so glad you had a good first eating out experience.
