Needing help with my doctor
I am scheduled (I think) to have a revision from lapband to VSG! My original surgery dates were set for July 16th to have the band removed and July 23rd to have the VSG. Due to obligations with my kids I requested to change the VSG surgery to Aug 23rd but can't get a straight answer as to if my band surgery needs to be moved to a later date. My doctor was affiliated with Baylor Plano but has since left there and is now with Presby Dallas. I keep leaving messages with his scheduler with no return calls. Do I keep calling and bugging them or just go with another doctor? This doctor did my band back in 2007 and I totally trust him and he offers great support but if his office staff can't get their stuff together I am not so attached that I won't look else where. Any advice would be appreciated.
I would let them know you are considering leaving and why. Then see if you can do the revision and sleeve at the same time? Just a thought. Not sure if that is what you want but I know someone who did that all at the same time :) I am in Texas too and not far from you. I like my surgeon so far and will hopefully have my sleeve in August.. good luck!!
How far is their office from you? Would it be possible to go up there and demand to talk to the person who does scheduling? Explain to the person at the desk that you can't get a phone call back and that you need an answer. If they can't accommodate you in person, that would be my que to look elsewhere.
Crap like this actually drove me from the surgeon who did my husband's sleeve to a different surgeon, and quite frankly, I don't regret the decision one bit. I can't stand the thought of possibly needing to get in touch with my dr for some reason and not knowing if I'll be able to.

OP, you are near me.
I had considered going with Nicholson and his scheduler called me and said that if you ask him to operate at Baylor Plano, he might. This was like 3 weeks ago.
Anyway, mine is at Baylor Plano on 7/23 with Dr. Kennedy. If I were you, I'd leave one more message and mention that you are prepared to take your business elsewhere. My hubby had to do the same thing with his surgeon and I guess the notion of losing revenue lit a fire under their ass.

Your doctor does have a great reputation and so I can see why you want to stick with him. You've been given some great advice. The only thing I can think of that would concern me (as you've already considered, I think) is to wonder if the move from one hospital to another has got the office into a state of confusion that might impact you. Did the office physically move, as well? (I'm really surprised that he moved since he was so successful at Baylor Plano.)
Thank you for all the great advice. I will call in the morning and if I don't get a call by noon then I will call back and make an appointment to meet with the doctor. I'm not sure why he left Baylor Plano (no his office did not move) but I'm not concerned what hospital the surgery is at just as long as he does the surgery. He is a great doctor and his nurse is awesome. Have always felt very important up until now!
I went to Barker Bariatric at forest park medical center. He's awesome and his staff is great. He sat and talked to us as long as we needed and was great! I'm a month out 25 pounds down. www.barkerbariatriccenter.com Check him out!
