6 days post op and I had to have peanut butter

Hmmm... one could also look at this and say that for six days or about 8600 minutes she did splendidly.  For a period of 5 minutes she struggled.  I bet that represents a significant improvement for her.  Now it is time to work on eliminating the bad five minutes :)

I appreciate that analogy. I couldn't agree with you more. I didn't mess up my entire journey because I had a moment of weakness. I am a strong person but this is a hard journey as all of you fellow sleevers know. I am not perfect and never will be.. I appreciate all of the support and I don't expect to be coddled.. I am personally just going through a hard time emotionally, physically, and mentally all at the same time. Moving forward I will be sure to make more thought out plans of action. I know when the pain and discomfort and fatigue of surgery subside I know I will be back in full course.

You are going to have a lot of hard times on this journey.  You better fix these head games quick or you are going to be in for a rude awakening.  You can't run off to eat whatever you want every time you are a bit stressed.

Hopefully you learned from this.....but your profile says you have been on OH since 2006.  In those six years have you ever once seen someone say it was a good idea to eat off plan SIX days after surgery?  You can seriously hurt yourself.

I was "allowed" to have peanut butter at 4 weeks also.. I picked up a jar.. looked at the calories and put it down.  I'll stick to what has the calories I am looking for in order to have my weightloss be a success this time.

Just my 2 cents.

There is a product call PB2 which is a pressed peanut butter. It is 35 calories for 2 tbsp and you just add water. It is wonderful and you can have that and still be successful.

Amber.............

We had surgery on the same day.  I'm still having only clear liquids until I see my surgeon tomorrow for my one week check up.  Since about 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, the night before surgery until today, I have consumed maybe 100 calories total.  I'd mug a little old lady for a teaspoon of peanut butter!  It's not easy.

I'm a little distressed about both threads.  Attacking you isn't right.  Babying you isn't right, either.  My guess is that you posted your peanut butter nosh to show that you did something you knew you probably shouldn't have, but did it in the best way you could...........i.e. turning it into a liquid before swallowing it.  You are smart, and you know you had something not part of your plan at this point.  I hope you will follow your plan from here on out.  Your new tummy is not a happy camper yet..........it's swollen, irritated, and probably angry!  Let's get back on track and let it heal totally before giving it something that might slow your healing progress, okay?

We started this journey on the same day.  I want us to succeed.  Let's make a promise that we will do everything we can to follow our respective surgeons' plans and not take off on our own......at least until we are a year out.  I give you my promise to try my best to do that -- can I have the same promise from you?

Awwww.............thanks so much!  You know, I think I'm the "granny" here and our Amber could be my daughter -- I have a son older than she is.  Finding that place where help doesn't hurt, but doesn't coddle either is difficult.  As a teacher, you know better than anyone how hard that is.   I remember one of the teachers I was a Teacher's Aide to handled it best.  If a student gave the wrong answer, instead of telling the child he was wrong, the teacher would say "that answer isn't the one I'm looking for..........can you come up with a better one?"   It's a win-win and isn't that what we all want?  I admire teachers.............you make the world a better place -- thanks for what you do!

Sounds like a plan Ree!! Im pushing through and this really does suck.. Are you not having protein shakes yet?? I have protein shakes and they are calories, I also have my sugar free popsicle, different flavored water's etc.. I make a promise to give it my all. I am hoping it gets a little easier.. today I just wanna sleep..

I had my last food on Tuesday, June 26th. I had full liquids starting on Wednesday. I really never thought it was going to be this hard in my head to deal with all of this. There are just a lot of celebrations and such going on this week to make it even harder. Like there is like 20 different foods on the counters at my house cause we are having a party.. I can also do jello.. thats something I am allowed to eat!!! I am gonna nap here soon.

YIPPPEEEEE!!!  That's exactly what I wanted to hear from you!  Yep, it sucks hugely.  It's also a PITA when I have to cook real food for my husband who can consume 5000 calories a day and never gains weight!  Did I mention he's on my doggie-doodoo list for that?  LOL

You're lucky you can have full liquids...........rejoice!  Due to vacations and the Holiday, the last surgeon I saw prior to release from the hospital was my surgeon's colleague -- he did not give me the go-ahead to have full liquids, so I'm barely existing on nothing nutritional at all..........maybe 100 calories total over a week's time.  I have learned to love apple juice diluted with water........grape juice, once a favorite, now tastes awful.  I see my surgeon tomorrow and am looking forward to full liquids......I may bring a protein shake to my appointment LOL

You will face many celebrations -- you have the choice of staying on task or not...........I have faith in you that you'll stay on task.  Just think how great it is going to be to set an excellent example for your daughters.  Just think how great it is going to be to fit comfortably in any chair or seat.  Just think about no extensions for airplane seat belts!  Just think about all the wondrous things that are ahead of you.

Naps are good -- I take one daily.    Those are the kinds of "treats" you want to go for.  A new nail polish color, a nice nap, time to knit (or whatever hobbies you might have), sitting quietly and listening to the birds.........give yourself non-food rewards.

Hang in there Amber -- we'll help each other.............and we have some super people here to help as well.  How lucky are we????

Ciao for now,

Ree
