6 days post op and I had to have peanut butter

" I have done well in all of this jaz well thus far"
Wait, so you cheated and ate something you knew you probably should not have (even said yourself that you are ALREADY are breaking the rules) at six days out, and you think you are doing good so far? This is the start of your NEW life, you need to make it the best start you can have, put the old you out of the picture and tell her to shut the hell up when she tells you you NEED peanut butter, cause guess what, you would not have died without it, so you WANTED it.

I would love to take a walk but its like 103 degrees outside. It is something that I needed to do. I proceeded with caution. I know different surgeons have different guidelines as to when you should begin eating again. I have PB2 in my chocolate peanut butter protein shake which I know I can tolerate already so I went for it. I was careful and am doing just fine. Thanks for the concern.

I agree.
OP, if PB2 is included on your plan, you could have made some peanut butter with that. I will say it was not on my full liquids plan.
I agree with other posters, you did not have to have peanut butter. You wanted peanut butter. Guess what? I want pasta, I really want potatoes, and I really really want pizza. But I do not eat them, have not since surgery, and will not at least for the foreseeable future.
If you are really happy with this decision and feel you did nothing wrong, why the post?
*hijack alert* Couldit, you are only 1lb to goal, damn you are rockin it!!

The post-op diet really has nothing to do with weight loss...its about what is safe for the staple line.
Your stomach has just suffered a traumatic event and will not be an accurate reporter if "all has been good." You won't know.
The post-op diet is hard, but I promise you, a leak is harder. Please return to your post-op diet (which I would guess is clear liquids at 6 days out). This is not the time to be pushing your diet and again, this has nothing to do with weight loss, but with letting your stomach heal and avoiding a leak. Please be careful.
Good luck,
Lindsey
