So I was having a hard time today and wanted to see if I could do some peanut butter.. Well I did nice and slow and made it into liquid in my mouth before I swallowed and it was fabulous.. We shall see how it sits in my tummy tonight but it has been over an hour and all has been good.. I am only 6 days in and am breaking rules already... Oh lord..

Be very careful. Your stomach is just healing, it will be swollen and the never ending will be numb...sometimes.
Try taking a walk when the urge to eat something comes upon you. Or have the broths and such (what ever your diet says) ready and waiting. It does help a lot especially when your nerve ending wake up in your stomach.

One hour at a time if you have to. Your sleeve will kick in soon and the whole thing will change again.
Good luck sweetie,

i'm one week post op and was wondering when the nerve endings will kick in? I've been stickin to protein drinks, but dont seem to have any restriction.  I try to drink 2 oz of protein every 15 minutes.
Thanks for any replys

You won't find restriction until you start eating dense or denser protein.

Liquids, jello, yogurt and the like flow right thru your stomach now---a good thing as you need to drink as much as possible and as you are adding protein shakes to your plan.

Hi Jackie,

Don't fret, a lot of people don't feel the restriction in the liquid phase. Take it easy and keep sipping your drinks. It will be a different world when you move to softs and solids in a few weeks.

Best,
Lindsey

Well Amber,
I usually don't respond to these types of posts....truthfully because I feel that allot of folks who do similar posts are looking for validation or a "That's OK...get back on the wagon" type of response.  That's not me---so you might not be happy with what I say.

2 issues as I see it---physical and mental----First, at only 6 days, I would bet PB is not on your surgeon's plan. If it is--fine (not a good choice in my book but fine). But assuming it is not---there are food guidelines for a reason. You can make yourself very sick by not following the plan. Even if you liquefied it--suppose PB made you throw up. Put stress on your stomach, etc. You chose your surgeon and her plan plan. You are recovering from major surgery. The plan is there for a reason.

Secondly---your post title says I had to have PB---actually, you wanted PB. There's lots of things you'll want in the future that you just shouldn't have. You have to make the mental commitment for this journey. You have a long way to go---I understand---started around the same numbers. I think you need to work with someone on this issue, IMHO.  You have to commit to the lifestyle change.

Stay safe---stay on plan!

Well I appreciate your response. I wasn't looking for a pat on the back or a its ok honey don't worry about it. I am just trying to be honest about my journey. I understand everything you are saying and I know I have a long journey ahead of me. I am not sure what IMHO means? Help fill in the blank for me please. I am doing the best that I can and honestly didn't know how difficult full liquids would be. I am sorry if you feel as if I let you down but I know my body better than anyone. I have done well in all of this jaz well thus far and will run it by my surgeon when I see her on Friday. Again I appreciate your concern.

Thanks. Amber

IMHO = In my humble/honest opinion

Most of us here know the liquids phase is hard. If you live alone, throw out the peanut butter or anything else that may tempt you off your post-op plan. If you live with others that want the peanut butter, you may ask them to hide it or, seriously, lock it up. Leaks can be a life or death matter.

IMHO---In my humble opinion

You're not letting me down at all----Although we try to advise and support each other, we are all on our own journey. The only person who can let me down in this...is me.

I just don't want to see you hurt yourself or get off on, what I consider to be, the wrong foot.

Again, just my opinion.
