Difficulty Swallowing

I am about 12 weeks out from surgery and over the last few days my indigestion is horrible and I have had a heck of a time almost painful swallowing. I am taking 20 mgs of pepcid 3 times per day and cannot take PPIs like prilosec or prevacid due to the reaction with my lupus...any tips the pain is a burning in my esophogus like a burning hot poker!
Find out what you CAN take and start switching it up until you find what works for you. I went through 3-4 different types until I found the right one. Now I take a pill in the morning and evening and tums when it flairs up through the day. I cannot say it is exactly perfect but it is not nearly what you describe. I really feel for you, and to think I was feeling sorry for myself! So thank you for that. Just keep looking till you find the right one.
With your Lupus complications you will need to talk to your doc about this. One thing I have found out that I can pass along though is to be careful using Tums, Rolaids, Malox and other products like this. They might help out temporarily, but in the long run, actually cause your body to produce more acid making it even worse. My surgeon told me to never take any of those products.
