I also Cheated through out the two weeks at different time I had 1/2 of a Tony's Pizza, Cheese, a couple of other things I cant remember now lol Just get back on TRACK... My plan allowed me to have 2 shakes for B and L and then 4oz of Meat and a Salad or Veggies.  You should be OK just don't make it a habit.  Is it OK NO But sometimes its really HARD!  Good Luck You Will Do Fine!  Im 6.5 week giv or take and have lost 47+ lbs

I went on vacation for a week while I was supposed to be on my pre-op diet. I e-mailed my surgeon in a panic after trying a million different shake recipes saying there was no way I could make these on a cruise ship (I had to mix several things to make it palatable to me). I had expected having to postpone surgery for a week, but he responded that on vacation I could just have 3 meals of 3 ounces of protein per day, and that would be okay. I did good on vacation, the only 'slips' I had was having fruit as an appetizer some nights. I still lost 13 pounds on my 2 week pre-op diet, even after the week of vacation. I just had surgery on Wednesday and it was successful. Don't beat yourself up about the mistakes, but from now on ask yourself before putting any food in your mouth, "Do I want to have a successful surgery?" While a couple slip-ups should not affect surgery, continuing to do so most likely will. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to eat more food during the pre-op, but I kept reminding myself that I was doing this for me, my health, so I could be around for my children. Think of your motivation for having this surgery, every time you want to eat something you shouldn't. Also, something that helped me was sugar-free gum. I would go through a pack a day, but my surgeon said it was okay to have, it definitely helped those times where I'd want to just be chewing or eating mindlessly!

Ughh, I was JUST logging on to post this same thing. I am on clear liquids for 5 days pre-op and I went to work today with 13 kiddos for a 9 hour day. I felt so nauseous and dead. I just ate a bowl of cereal. I'm so disappointed in myself. And the caveat? I don't feel much better. Tomorrow is a new day and the sleeve is coming on Thursday. I CAN do this.

i haven't read the other comments but wanted to share If this helps at all...   I am on liquid diet right now as well.  However my liquid diet is having 3 shakes a day and then a "healthy Meal" in the day that is under 400 calories...  So it isn't bad to have some 'solid food' so to speak, however I understand the worry.  I would just get right back on track

Right there with you...surgery date is the 29th...pre-op liquids...my plan is shake for breakfast, shake for lunch, then small protein/veggie meal...When I "cheated" I tried to cheat with something that fell in that category....I had a couple a pieces of jerkey...yes I know sodium....yuck....and a ff cheese stick.......Is it really sad that I actually thought through my cheats? lol

I ate 5 Guys one night.  I didn't go beserk, but a smaller sized meal for sure.  Here is what I learned from it:

1.  The hubby and I are majorly  codependent.  This triggered a long talk about his wanting me to eat crap, and how easy it is for me to eat crap.  The reverese was also true, just in other instances.

2.  It was the first time i truly took to heart the idea of crawling back on the wagon.  I have such an all or nothing mentalitly that usually something like that would derail me.  6 months later and I still remind myself to get back on the wagon, but it is probably the one skill that has helped me the most.

3.  This also led to better choices.  If I eat crap food, but now actively look for better versions of it.  For example, for a dessert fix I will eat a yasso frozern greek bar or make a mousse with sugar free jello.  Same satisfaction, but far far less calories then my old ways.

4.  I realized how much I had to work on the head issues, and I still have work to do.

Just get yourself back on the wagon and learn what you can from it.

I have cheated ?? .. I'm not having VSG .. in having open gastric bypass in 2 days .. I've been on my full liquid diet for 12 days now and like 2 days ago I had maybe 3 small slices of turkey ham ? I was starving and last night when making dinner for my husband I had a very small piece of chicken breast .. it's very hard to not eat especially when ur very hungry and tired of just protein shakes jello and chicken broth or tomato soup ... Also today I added a little bit of homemade salsa to my chicken broth to give it a lille flavor ? ... Hopefully I will be ok for surgery on Monday ...
