HELP!!! I totally cheated the liquid diet of the pre-op phase
I started my liquid diet last Monday and did well until Saturday which was my birthday. My surgery is scheduled for 6/25 and I had a cheat meal on Saturday. Then on Sunday (Father's Day) I cheated by having 5 crackers and some salami. The rest of the day I had protein shakes. Today started well and I had protein shake for breakfast and protein pudding for lunch. Then I got home from work and it was all down hill. I was cooking some chicken breast to blend into my soup and I ate the chicken breast solid instead. Then some more crackers and a piece of fruit. I am just sooo hungry and anxoius its hard when I am home.
Any feedback is appreciated. I am scared and I would also like to know if anyone else cheated on their liquid diet before surgery and had no problems.
Thanks

If we weren't weak to food, we wouldn't need this surgery.
The beautiful thing is that the slate gets wiped clean every morning when the sun comes up and you can do better (not to say you can make a bad choice and declare the day a wash and continue to make bad choices
Also, I had a hard time imagining what it would be Iike to have control after getting sleeved, but it really is true. To not "want"...it's such a blessing. To not order an entree because it's "big" is the weirdest feeling. I went from
never quite having "enough" to having to work just to get "enough" in! It's hard in its own way but even when you don't make te best choices with the sleeve, you can't do the kind of damage you could pre op.
It's "oh no, I ate 3 bites of pizza" and not "oh no, I ate a WHOLE pizza".
Dust yourself off, put it behind you and do better. You're doing it toward a goal, getting your sleeve. It's worth it.

The point of the diet is to shrink your liver in most cases. Do your best to stay on track. The small slips you had should not effect your surgery. I slipped BIG TIME on mine. Olive Garden full meal slipped. I thought I could sit there a just sip tea while others ate. It was 3 days before my surgery and I got through everything fine. Find strength in your weakness
I made it 3 days on liquids only before I just coudlnt take it anymore. Email my NUT .. she replied back that night told me to replace 2 shakes a day with 2 small meals of lean meat and a veggie. That worked out much better. It was too hard to not eat anything pre surgery. I still lost 12 lbs in about 10 days and surgery went fine.
