Why do some people have more restriction than others?
I was recently sleeved & in the mushie stage..chicken, turkey, tuna, etc... I have yet to feel any restriction. I feel diferent, my tummy burps & growls & stuff but I haven't felt any restriction nor had any vomiting or feeling of full. Today I ate one egg and felt I could have eaten another egg but didn't. I am really begining to believe the surgery didn't work on my. So many people say they eat 2 bites and are full & I can only think that those must be 2 super huge bites or my sleeve doesn't work. Why do some people have more restriction that others? Is there anything I can do to get more restriction?
The bougie size can be the difference,as well as your height. The taller you are, the longer your pouch is, so the more you can put in, even with a small bougie, which may take you longer to feel the restriction. Most people don't feel much restriction in the liquid/mushie stages as well. Once you hit the solids you should notice the different feeling then.

Sort of a terrifying place to be, isn't it? I remember it well. I had no real feeling of restriction during liquids or mushies. I felt very uncertain, hesitant and worried about my surgery. Once I hit soft foods, things changed. Some soft foods (scrambled egg) made me feel like, Uh Oh - don't take another bite, but still I didn't feel full. On solids, I finally felt what I call my restriction. I don't like it. It's different. I avoid it like the plague!
As a matter of fact, I have never felt the old full from before VSG - ever. I have a new full. It took me a while to get to know it, but now I do. My full feels like I'm going to have food start piling up inside my esophagus - literally. I know that if I have to burp while eating I'm close to being full. That's when I stop.
HOWEVER, what works best for me is to weigh and measure all my food before it gets on my plate. That way I know I will not over eat and stay within my calorie limits for the day.
I promise you it does get easier. At this stage for you, just measure and stay on plan. Your surgery worked just fine, I bet. Your "symptoms" sound very typical for someone in the mushy stage. Take care!

I feel the same way for the last couple days. I just measure everything. However I was allowed to have a soft scrambled egg and that made me feel full all day. But Tuna goes down really easy for me. Just trial and error. I have faith that if I follow my plan it will work out. Just follow your plan and things will be great!

Felt the same way as you until I hit solids. I didn't feel that much restriction and even felt hungry a lot. Once I started eating chicken and fish and shrimp, I got full really fast. I promise you that you will know your surgery worked once you start eating solid foods. It makes all the difference. That is why I think protein first is so important.
Thanks everyone. I'm on mushi protiens like shredded chicken with some sort of sause on it, shredded turkeyw with gravy, tuna, etc.. but haven't felt any restriciton. I will wait & hope that it will improve as I heal more and move towards more solid foods. However, I haven't really eaten a lot of anything either just being cautious. Thanks for everyones feedback. It really helps.
