G'Day Kiwi,

Sounds like your well on your way. Don't forget the strenght training. Try an aerobic / low impact weight class. Best of both worlds. Trying to think outside the box for myself. I just want to get "toned".

Cheers!

we are very rural and have to drive 40km to the gym one way and dont have the variety as most people do, but will try light weight training when up to it.

Do you have a YMCA near by? I do aquacise 3Xper week for 1 hour then swim laps for 30 mins after the class...we use aqua barbells for strength and we do cardio as well. Then 3 days a week I walk at least 3 miles sometimes as much as 5miles if I have time and energy after working all day. I usually take Sunday off unless its a really nice day then I walk or do something else outside. We just opened our pool last weekend so Im looking forward to that. I love the water. I think I was a fish in a former life! Swimming burns lots of calories (look on fitness pal) and the resistance from the water builds strength. I know I "feel the burn". The best part is the classes are fun...doesn't feel like so much work.

I started 1/2 marathon training.  So I run 5x a week, then 3 days I also do core and upper body training.  I try to take 2 days off a week (Tues & Thurs).

I try to go to the gym 4 days out of the week. When I do. I do the tredmill for 30 minutes and the eliptical for 30 minutes. Then I switch days doing one day 30 min arm strength and the next day 30 min leg strength machines.

Right now, I run 4 miles three times a week (Mon., Wed., Fri.). However, I'm going to start adding weight training in between my running schedule. I have kettlebells that came with a 30min. video, so I'll give that a try. Exercise, don't you just love it?

Hello.  I'm 17 months post-op.  I started walking/running on the treadmill for 30min/5days a wk at 3 months post-op.  I did only the treadmill for nine months straight.  Now I work out approx 7 hours/wk doing cardio kickboxing, zumba, and a strength-n-stretch class.  I take Friday and Sunday off.

I work out with a trainer 3x week for one hour.   I do 20-25 mins of cardio and strength training for the rest of the hour.  I fit in more cardio on my own during the week.
