How to tell if you are full?
I was sleeved 5-7. I'm not hungry at all but I also can't tell when I'm full untill it's very uncomfortable which doesn't seem normal to me. It's like I lost all sense in my tummy beyond the occassional burp or gargle. I only know I'm full when I feel sick or uncomfortable - but nothing that says "full, approaching full, stop eating". I haven't hit any of my water or protien goals yet so I know I'm not overdoing it. I'm still under on both and need to bring in more. however, food wise, I can't tell when enough is enough until it hurts and I'm still not getting enough in as is. Any tips?
I was sleeved on the 7th as well. I quickly found a couple of ways that give me a hint. The first is if I lay down. It will be uncomfortable if I am full, but sitting up feels fine. Another is getting the hiccups. my doc told me to try to overdue the water, to test things out while only on liquids is less painful then when on solids again.

My Dr orders have been to measure everything...volume matters. Early on - including now since I'm only 2.5 months out - I have measured. Two tablespoons was all I could do - max for the first 6 weeks. I think that helped me begin to learn my signs. It is different now. I have heard others talk about learning the "silent" cue...like maybe it is a belch or a sigh you have to do or a yawn or something that you do when you have reached full...before pain and nausea and all that. Measuring has helped me identify - with a reasonable amount - what my "sign" is. For me I have a sigh where I kinda slow down...when i get there I know I am at my "full" but jot stuffed.
The next big hurdle has been to learn to honor my body's signal and actually stop. I have spent so many years ignoring my body's signals that I have to be very conscientious to "hear" them now and honor them. That is a big challenge...especially when your physical body needs something your mind doesn't want to give...like healthy choices, stopping before going too far, sleep, etc.
Good luck!

I weigh my food before putting it on my plate. If I'm out with friends when my food comes I divide it into four servings and eat one and bring the rest home. I never want to feel that uncomfortable again because throwing up is the worst.

You survived what you thought would kill you. Now straighten your crown and go forward like the Queen you are!
Try and keep distractions like talking to a minimum at first. Focus on what your tummy is telling you and what the food scale says as you cannot trust your eyes to judge amount. Eat slowly and stop before you think you are full. You can always have a bit more in 10-15 minutes. Stick to dense protein first as that will fill you up fast and you can top it up with fruit or veg if you have room. 5 months out I am full with 2 ounces of protein and 1 ounce of fruit/veg.
This is a really good question! I'm a little more than two weeks out and I have a hard time determining when I'm full too. I've been measuring out 1/4 cup of liquids, but now that I'm eating puréed foods it's different. I ate less than 2 oz of refried beans and I was sick! I'm looking forward to knowing when to stop.
I sneeze...I know it sounds weird but on another support site there were a few of us who had this phenomenon...frankly I hope I continue to do it...it's great....didn't start that until about 3 months out and spent a lot of time puking before the sneezing began but now when I feel the sneeze coming on I know I am done...
