I need help & information for my malnutrition.
Uh, Carmelita, this is Jo777.. trust me, I'm on the boards with the DSers a lot more than you realize and in more places than OH and am very much more educated on this subject than you appear to be, both in peer-reviewed med studies and real-life stories. Drop it, you are mis-informed and spreading incorrect information that's mostly hyperbole. There is no prevalence to see.. it is rare, and it is an effect of lack of compliance and I can tell you, it is not COMMON, and when it happens due to someone letting basic DS nutrition slide, it is correctable. Period, end of story.
Errr.. I alerted these folks to come help this woman that obviously has a surgery that is not being supplemented or medically monitored correctly.. because I care and her post worried me.
And you did say in the DS world protein malnutrition is common.. but that is not true, you are mistaken. Let's leave the arguing out of this, and let this person get directed to those resources that can really help her as the VSG forum is not the place she needs to be to find answers for her ERNY issues.. ok?

You are obviously not following the convo. I DID find out what she had before I posted to her last night.. she has a Dr that does RNY to ERNY revisions, and I found that out reading on the revision board where she posted a few years ago- so I DID MY DUE DILIGENCE.. and I called in the Calvary as the ERNY is a bad surgery to deal with and even RNYer don't understand it- but DSers do! So, I called in the proper resources to help this person.
The only one creating drama on this thread is you.

Jo,
She apparently blocked me before I could read anything she wrote afterwards. She's certainly not worthy of my time to log out just to see it. I have no respect for anyone who posts and runs. Especially one who posts ignorant garbage and then tries to backpedal.
I'm glad you came along to clarify.

Really?
Because this is what you wrote
:I suggest you post over at the DS forum...as the gal above me can attest PROTEIN MALNUTRITION is quite common in the DS world, as well as fat malabsorption and odor problems/symptoms
And, no thanks, I'm not going to standby and let you give incorrect information on a subject you obviously know very little about.

From what I read so far - you got distal RNY - it is RNY that was revised to bypassed more intestines. The RNY can create major issue... but the distal - O boy.. IMO - the best person to turn to is Vitalady at vitalady.com. She herself had distal and suffered severe malnourishment but since then learn what she needs to do to stay healthy and is also helping the WLS community with what to take how much, etc.
I had RNY - normal - and over the years I had to increase protein intake from 80 per day to 100 and now 120-150gr a day every day. And that with only minor residual malabsorbtion. It sounds like you not only have major minerals - vitamins but also very severe protein deficiencies.
Please contact her ASAP>.. DS board - these people really can help you. (listen to veterans, a few years post op who are doing OK)

Wow...so glad I didn't post anything, since I would have probably posted something similar to what Carmelita said AND I rather like my head and would prefer not having it bitten off... So she made a mistake, geez! Whatever happened to the original poster? Did she get help? Or did she run away from the posse??? LOL
