I need help & information for my malnutrition.
Please, before I agree to another operation, does anyone know a specialist that can deal with rare malnutrition. It was so extreme I ended up in the hospital on TPN solution thru a picc line. Now my blood work is down again and I present with an odor that is very socially prohibitive. I have had to loose time at work because of complaints. I live on the east coast and no one here has ever dealt with this so don't know quite how to help me.
Thank you for responding. I have a medical file at least an inch thick just dealing with the last couple years. My surgeon was Dr Eric Schlesinger who I contact because of all the recommendations from this site. The operation he did was a revision and for the 1st year it appeared all was well. I didn't realize my protein was slipping. The 1st I understood what was happening was after dealing with hair loss, skin became like tissue paper, I developed burning mouth syndrome, fluid was building in my abdomen down into my feet to the point of oozing. I became anemic and I was loosing weight 10lbs at a time in short periods. I was trying to deal with the different syndroms one on one not connecting the issues until the odor developed. I referred back to Dr Schlesinger who said he could operate to reverse the mal-absorption but then didn't respond to me anymore. I live 2000 mile away from him. I have take the advise of his nutritionist and the Drs here but have not been able to maintain and the odor is occurring more often.
I need an expert in this field. Maybe someone's physician knows an expert in this field that could help me.
Thanks

I am so sorry that you are going though this, and I wish I had help to offer. I, like the others, think that posting to the the DS board will get you more answer then here, here is a link to get you there -

Have you asked your surgeon for a referral? There's not a lot of information to go on. I would talk to either your surgeon or primary care physician for references.

Hi My_Time.. I looked at your profile to try to get more info since you don't have a surgery listed and you are posting in the VSG forum.. I gather by your friends list- have you had the RNY? Did you have the RNY revised?
Please possibly provide more info, I am trying to help.. Do you know what you were revised to- was it an ERNY- extended RNY for more weight loss?
You are posting in the VSG forum, and since the VSG doesn't happen to have any malabsorption, this is why you aren't getting any answers. You should pop into the DS forum, even if you don't have a DS as they are more the experts at malabsorption issues and should be able to assist better.

Thanks for that suggestion, you are right I'm sure and will pop into the DS forum. I originally had RNY then had revision in 2008. The Dr created 75% malabsoption I have had many issues to deal with. Being on the east coast there aren't really any Drs with enough experience or knowledge to really help me.
