Are we twins...? Both our pre-surgery weight and surgery date are the same! I'm glad you asked this question. I've asked others who are post-op, "looking back, what unexpected issues did you experience?"  or "What happened that you weren't told about?" At this point, though I'm excited and ready. Let's go!!! Good luck and wishing you a speedy, uncomplicated recovery!

The only hard thing for me was the mental aspect.  You need to be prepared to make a lifelong change.

Not to sound macho....but the pain was nothing.  My surgery was textbook, pain was minimal, and I didn't even take any pain meds at home.  After a week I just felt like I had done a few too many crunches.

The mental part....now that is tough.  1 oz of meat is not very much and its somewhat hard to wrap your mind around the fact that this small amount will fill you up completely.  It's strange never being hungry.  It's strange gagging on a previous favorite food.

You are already ahead of the game by coming to OH....the wisdom gleaned from the vets here has been a HUGE part of my success.  Listen to those who have "been there and done that" and that are successful.

I lost right around 60 lbs in the first 3 months post op.  Pretty steady 4-5 lbs a week.  I have had 2-3 stalls but I just ignore it and keep doing my thing and they have broken within a week and usually with a BIG loss....like no loss for 7-10 days and then 7-8 the next week.  It's weird how that happens.

Finally.....shoot for your dream weight.  Why not?  Don't sell yourself short.  It will be tough but its doable!!!!  Don't get to 140 and say...well I made my realistic weight.  Get all you can out of this life changing surgery.
