I know when I had the lap band I couldn't use a straw to drink...what about with the sleeve? My aunt has had a sleeve for 3 years and she drinks with one, but I read someone on here said not to...what do you think??
I was told no but I already slipped and used one. Didn't even realize I was doing it until my husband said something. I was told it had something to do with air but it didn't affect me that I could tell.
I absentmindely used one the other day and I had no issue. But what I was doing was sucking it into my mouth holding the liquid and exhaling then letting the liquid down.
Wow, Very good idea! I will definitely try that and hopefully that will work out for me too when I am sleeved. I rather sip slowly with a straw instead of drinking out of a cup and accidentally gulping all the time.
I confess - I've used straws since I got home from the hospital. Never got the hang of sipping. Always sipped very small amount and paused before swallowing. Haven't been struck by lightning yet!
That's kinda what I wondered...when I drink I've taken too big a gulp twice and it wasn't horrible, just uncomfortable...I thought a straw might help but I wasn't sure...thanks!!
