Try eating some ice cream on an empty stomach. It makes me so sick I can't even explain it. Almost instantaneous diarrhea and a cramping feeling for hours. Has something to do with undigested sugars dropping right into the intestine. Stimulating your pylorus to clear your stomach contents without digesting is an awful experience, and one I will NEVER repeat.

So! If you want to kill your desire for sweet things, attempt what I just mentioned. It's like burning your hand on a hot stove. You do it once, learn and never go near it again LOL. I don't even desire sweet food now because of it.

 Time.

You'll adjust over time.

Distract yourself with something else and push through it.   You could try to substitute it with something else... but then you're going to be eating more.  Just pass.

Sugar free popcicles did it for me. However you will get sick of sweet really fast sounding worry. Post op I try to use the Calcet creamy calcium citrate chews in the chocolate flavor. They are like little brownie bits and def take care of a dessert craving.
