What are your questions?  You really need to think about what YOU want to know.  Things like risks of surgery, what diet before and after surgery and activity after surgery need to be really clear for you before you have surgery.  Bring a list of all the medications you take and the reasons why you take them.  Ask if you need to stop any before surgery and which ones you should take the morning of surgery.  Bring a friend that you know will stay calm and really listen to what the doc says.  Both of you should take notes.  I don't know what size my sleeve is, but that is really important to some people.  You may want to know how many sleeves he has done and you want to know his complication rates.  Write the questions down before you go and really listen to the answers without focusing on your next question.  Don't leave until your questions have been answered.

Ask him if you will need to "inject" yourself with any medications when you leave the hospital.  I can't remember the name, but about a week before my surgery the practice changed their rules and patients left the hospital with a prescription whereby you had to inject yourself 2x a day in the stomach.  The medicine was supposed to prevent blood clots.

I was taken off guard...you should be prepared.

Good luck.

You are blessed to have found such a wonderful man and accomplished surgeon as Dr. Yatco to consider for your procedure. Dr. Yatco performed my VSG last May and the results have greatly exceeded my most hopeful expectations. Down 100+ lbs, off high blood pressure and diabetes meds within 30 days of surgery :-)  It was a truly a miracle in my life.

I interviewed 7 of the top bariatric professionals in NYC metro and thankfully decided upon Dr. Yatco. In my opinion you will be in the most capable hands, plus as you will see when you meet him, he is a genuine caring person.

Please PM me your contact info and I will call you if you would like to have a private discussion. Whatever your decision, I congratulate you on your resolve to change your life and I wish you all the best.

Dr. Yatco ROCKS!!!....Love him
