Protein Shots-something else to "watch" for
Time and time again the subject of Protein Shots come up. Yes, most Nuts recommend them because they are "high" in protein even though the main protein source in them is NOT easily absorbed. If the first protein source is collagen, then dont waste your money on them.
Something else I just came across is "biopeptide". My protein powder of choice is manufactured by Dymatize. I LOVE their ISO-100 Gourmet Vanilla. It is the only one I can get past the smell AND taste. So I was looking at GNC's website (comparing prices) when I came across a Dymatize brand liquid protein. Hmm? So of course I had to check it out.
99 calories, 0 carbs, 0 sugar and 25 grams of protein. Sounds good so far, then I go to the list of ingredients. Starts out with water (of course!), then they have Elite Liquid Protein Blend whi*****ludes Biopeptides, Whey Protein Isolate and Casein Protein Isolate.
I'm starting to get a little excited thinking I have finally found "liquid gold". Thank you Dymatize!! I'm getting ready to post this "wonderful" find on here but then I think, Biopeptides. Hmm? What the hell is that?? So I did a quick google search.
Dont "waste" your money on these protein shots either. Biopeptides apparently is a way of "hiding" the word collagen. Seriously? Disappointed that they would "cover up" crap but I will still continue to purchase their powder because it is the ONLY one that does not gag me.
Learn to read your labels and DONT be afraid to google something. Knowledge is golden!!
**Disclaimer: I am NOT calling collagen crap based on it's medicinal value. This post is about nutritional values only
Thanks for the information about the protein shots. I had even considered buying and testing some of those at one point. I also bought the nastiest thing known to man, CHER-AMINO liquid protein put out by Twinlab. I actually wrote to the company this week and asked them if I could pay THEM to take it back. Vile doesn't even begin to describe it.
