I am 23 days out and I have a terrible pain under my right rib cage:( I have felt really blah..(that is the only way to describe it!) lately and have also had some pain in my right hip and around my back. It is the rib pain that bothers me the most. Anyone else have anything similar to this? I know they aren't exactly "gentle" during surgery, but I would think at 23 days I shouldn't be feeling the aches and pains of it anymore. p.s. NO fever, vomiting, nausea, or pain in my stomach area during or after eating.

Did you have a hiatal hernia repair by chance?  That took me a long time to recover from, whereas the stomach healing portion was a breeze.  I could feel it just inhaling/exhaling.  When I tried to do the elliptical early out (cleared by the doc) it aggravated it something fierce, as did very cold weather. I don't recall the hip issue though...

If you've got pain under your ribcage, I strongly recommend you call your doctor.

I agree with Ruggie that you should reach out to your doctor.  You are right that at 23 days post op, pains under your ribcage should not be expected.  It could be any number of things, including your gallbladder.

If I had a hernia, the dr. didn't mention it. I also don't have a gall bladder. I will give the dr. a call. I just thought I would check here first:) Thanks everyone for the replies.

Hi, I am three weeks out tomorrow - the incision on my left, where the stomach was removed, has always felt as though the ribs were spread / levered somehow which I guess they may have been, it is still tender, but doesn't sound as sore as yours.
