wanted useful tips for surgery abroad

anyone who has traveled abroad for surgery . then if you have any useful tips and suggestions I'm all ears.
I live in New Zealand and travel to India on THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 I just came back from my vsg in Mexico on Friday

Items I'm really glad I took
1) earplugs. My room was next to the nurses stn and the IV pain pump I found noisy
2) tic tacs. I don't know what they put down your throat but nasty taste to wake up to and zero fluids for first 24 hrs so can't wa**** away. I sucked on one tic tac during sleep 4 hours
3) iPad tablet. Not sure if the hospital in India has wifi but the one in Mexico did
4) wheel chair assistance at the airports on the way home. Didn't have to stand in line thru customs and was whisked thru special lines which was much faster and they carried my bags

Wish I had a stresil or cepacol cough drop it has an anesthetic in it for sore throats  as throat not only nasty tasting but sore from tubes they put down during surgery

Georgie I had my surgery across the street from my house so I didn't have to go far to get mine done but i just wanted to let you know that I think you are super awesome for doing this. Do you have anyone going with you to help you for a few days after? How long will you be in India? I do hope you will be able to keep us posted from there on how things go.. and take tons of pics so I can live vicariously through you (Id seriously break something to get to go to India :P)

Hi I'm not tthe most trigger happy person holding a camera but will try lol.
Going all by my lonesome, there for 10days.
 should all go well. not feeling that nervous, must be bottling it all up, aahhh!
