6 moths out and losing sooooo slow now, any advice??

It's such a bummer!
 
I am losing about a pound a week now. My loses seem to run with my monthly female cycle. I don't lose much, maybe a pound the first couple weeks of my cycle, then the last two weeks I will lose about 2lbs each week.

With swimsuit season coming, I am so wanting to make goal by summer. I am getting frustrated and feeling like it's not going to happen. I am only 20lbs from my goal of losing 100lbs but at 5lbs a month, it's going to be a long, torturous road.

Any advice? I always get in my 70 grams of carbs and usually do very well at staying under 40 grams of carbs. I might go over that once a week. It's frustrating to be so good all week and see 1lb or no lbs lost. I even gained a lb a few different weeks in the last couple months.

Any comments or advice?

I wonder if others notice their weight loss trends matching up with their monthly female cycle?

Up your protein and fluids.

When I upped to 100 grams of protein (I did use shakes to get there) and 100 oz of liquids, my loss picked up a lot.

But 1 lb a week is nothing to sneeze at. The last 20 lbs are HARD.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

Shakes are my life saver! He! He!  I can't imagine where I would be without my shakes!! He He.

Sad to say, I am only 3 months out and I feel the way u feel now....my losses for the past few weeks have been about 1 lb a week....I was not sure what to do either--I do have an issue with the shakes-- I have a problem tolerating them. I think u have done great and I hope I can say I hit 80 lbs down like u!!

Hmm. I am sorry to hear that. Have you tried Unjury's unflavored protein? My mom doesn't tolerate many shakes well either, as far as she hates sweet stuff, but she drinks the unflavored stuff. She drinks it straight with water. It taste kind of like skim milk but more plain. It's just an idea of a way to make your protein goals if you can't stand sweet drinks. 

I know for me, I absolutely must have 70 grams of protein a day. I didn't do any protein once when I got real busy for a couple weeks, when I was about 2 months out, I didn't lose a pound the whole two weeks! I was losing like 3 1/2lbs a week at that time, and then it went to nothing! I hardly ate a thing either. So, I learned the hard way,  I won't lose if I don't get in my 70 grams of protein, no matter how little I am eating.

Not sure that will help you but that's what seems to have helped me and my mom.

Hang in there though. It's so worth it in the end. I feel a ton better, even if i am not ready for the beach! He He

I am right with you. I have lost 80lbs and want to lose another 20 (Dr's goal). I am also at about 6.5 months and my loss has really, really slowed down. I have tried increasing my fluids but not protein so much. Guess I will try and drink another shake a day. All the vets told us about that honeymoon period the first 6 months!

I know, I know. I just don't want my honeymoon to end!! He He. He's such a great guy!!! He made me happy. He made me feel confident. He inspired to keep going when I didn't feel like it. ! He He.

I knew it would slow down but it stinks to be so close and have it all but stop on ya. He He. I can be patient but I was so looking forward to feeling good in a swimsuit this year. He He. Oh well, we still have like 4 more months until the pool opens for the year. Maybe we can still get there.

It was so much more fun though when the weight was dropping like flies ha? He He. I guess it's back to reality for me. He He

Crissy, your post took the words right out of my mouth!  My original goal was 150 but my doctor wants me to stop at 170 so I'm only about 20 pounds away myself.  I'm 7 months out and my loss has slowed dramatically as well.  Frustrating!!

I will definitely take PP's idea of upping protein and fluids and hopefully that will help!

I'm 5 pounds away from my 100-lb loss and I'm SOOO focused on making that happen SOON!

5lbs!! OMG!! I would be obsessed too!! I thought this was torture. 5lbs from goal. Man that would be intense. Way to go!!

yep. up the protein. i was losing slow at 4 months and doc said do this and i did and it worked. actually the last pounds came off fast. also upped the exercise but not much.  diane
