Has anyone continued taking the time release cymbalta after having a VGS?   I'm concerned because the physicologist said it would not release correctly.  My surgeon hasn't answered me yet. Just wondering if it worked fine for anyone else.   It helps nerve pain down my leg.

I was told it would be fine taking it after surgery. Because of insurance issues, I take 3 30mg capsules at night. I figured I would spread these out throughout the day.. hopefully they wont make me tired since I normally take them at night. I take it for pain as well.

I'm taking cymbalta with no problems. I take it for depression and seems to be working quite well.

I take it, I haven't noticed any measurable difference, but with weight loss and strength gain through exercise hard to say if it's the cymbalta or me getting healthier that is helping with the pain! :)

I take it too. I was told to open the capsule and just take what's inside - at least for now.

I take cymbalta with no problem. Your physiologist needs to research it better.

My surgeon did not want me to take any capsules for the first six weeks following surgery, so they recommended opening the capsule and mixing with applesauce. I got very nauseated when I did this (others have no problem). However, cymbalta leaflets and other resources said absolutely do not open the capsule. Do research this - it is definitely not meant to be opened, but on the other hand, you cannot stop it cold turkey either. It is a no win situation in my opinion.

I take Cymbalta for fibromyalgia and depression.  It works fine post op.

I didn't take my Cymbalta the day of surgery or for 48 hours post op.  On the second post op day, I took the capsule with fluids and haven't missed a day since.  I took it while on clear and full liquid stages and during mushies.

Check with your pharmacist but I definitely would NOT  open the capsule.  Check with your sugeon.  My surgeon didn't hesitate to let me have it post op.
