While hard core losing I would get cashew chicken and eat around the veg, now I have a little veg with it. Beef and Broccoli too. If you can find something that has a light sauce or no sauce and then just eat the protein.

Chinese food is hard for me.  It is very triggery and sometimes I just miss it too much to have the healthy alternatives.  When there are some.

When we go to PF Changs I have lettuce wraps.  I haven't been to a regular Chinese restaurant since surgery.  When I think about what I like, it all seems full of sugar, fat and carbs.  I know this isn't the way real Chinese food is, but it seems like what's available.

I like Thai food a lot and get a dish called Larb Thai which is a ground chicken on a bed of lettuce with a spicy, sweet, lime-y dressing.  It is a little triggery too, but I don't feel bad after eating it.

Chinese food is really challenging, I think, especially in the losing phase.  I have largely avoided it and plan to do this until goal, when I will add back in some of the healthier choices.  Healthier choices would be anything not fried, no sauce (or very light sauce), mainly meat & broccoli/peppers.  Avoid the rice for sure.  All the Chinese appetizers are either breaded, fried or have tons of carbs, so avoid those too.

In the early stages when new healthy habits are forming, it's all about choices!  Those habits will carry you through in the long term, which is when it gets harder.

Chicken with vegetables, chicken with mushrooms, green beans....many chineese resturants will steam an entree and put sauce on the side too....just ask ! Cashew Chicken is a favorite. I can order just the entree portion, and eat off of it for days....

Healthy chinese food?  Sorry to say, but I think that is a big oxymoron.  I think it's the only kind of food that I haven't tried since my surgery in march! Just say no! LOL!

My full liquid phase doesn't allow for these things yet, but I make my own. I use fresh cabbage and tons of other veggies(guess the rest of the fam will be filling up on them) and then I grill my chicken on the sides of my wok. I use soy sauce and bit of splenda(Dad's been diabetic for years). No other sauce and its all good. I never ate mine over rice as I really love the taste of the veggies...This makes me wish I was past the full liquid phase

When we order chinese I get steamed shrimp with steamed veggies. The rice comes with it, but I save that for the week for my hubby & do something different with it. I do sometimes get the sauce on the side, even ask whats the lightest sauce they have..lol which isn't many!! And dip a few times in the sauce & it lasts me for the whole week if I want to use it for something else. Most of the time I end up throwing it away!!
