sad story from Dubai (UAE)
This is why it is so important to do our own researches on doctors and hospitals:

You are so right...research is the answer.
But the people *****sponded to this story blame WLS not doctor. And so many of these people are saying the surgery is the easy shortcut way to losing weight.
I don't think anyone on this message board will say it's EASY. None of them are easy, just more successful than others.
People just don't get it...

Was it really the surgeons fault or was it just an unfortunate complication that very rarely happens. We will never really know. I guess lawsuit is the first thing that comes to mind when a loved one dies in a hospital. Someone has to get the blame. That's why my sleeve costs 48,000 bucks in the united states and only 8,000 bucks in Mexico. Lawsuits are to blame. Not to say that there aren't crummy negligent hospitals and surgeons out there, but any surgery carries risk. I mean heck - people have died from allergic reactions to stupid stuff like peanuts and fish.
The sad thing is the responses that people have left at the end of that article. Things like "well she shouldn't have tried to take the easy way out" or " I don't know why she just didn't exercise - I did"
Ignorance of the general public regarding obesity is sad. I refused to be in a gym half of my day and dying of hunger 24/7 while getting crummy results. Liefs too short to be miserable. The sleeve saved my life and I am so glad I didn't let articles like this about rare complications scare me into doing nothing. For most people the sleeve is the safest weight loss procedure out there. Period end of story.

The replys on that webpage are so ignorant. Surgery is not the easy way out and its not the surgery that is the problem it was the hospital and the "visitintg" doctor from france. People are so ignorant about this surgery and they have no idea what its like. It is so important to do the research and to know your doctor. unfortunately many people are so trusting of people called "doctor" and do not ask question and do their own research about that doctor and the program. We have to be our own health advocates............

i dont understand the whole story, she had complications in surgery but died of malnourishment? she was 40kg when she died?
yeah the people in the comments section pissed me off, like it's the easy way out. but i think i know why they say that, i mean before i researched WLS i thought you just had surgery and got to eat whatever you wanted with no consequence but still lost weight. a lot of people aren't educated on exactly what happens.
