I know what you are saying.  I finished my classes and have been told now I get to sit and wait about three months before I get my surgery date.  The waiting list for surgery is long.  All that waiting is accomplishing is to stress me out.  I have become such a basket case that in the last week I have been on an eating binge.  I feel real guilty and out of control.  At first all I did was think about the surgery and cry.  After that I ate anything I could get my hands on and gained back some of the weight I had lost.  I lost interest in journaling and exercising.  I keep saying there is always tomorrow since I will be waiting so long.  After reading some of the issues people are dealing with I no longer feel lost.  I am going to make a real effort to get back on track in the morning..  Just remind yourself your health is more important than anything else.  There are a lot of great people on this site that are encouraging and supportive.  I appreciate every one of them for not critizing, and giving me that extra push when i need it.

Please don't flip out. When its done you will wonder why you will so worried and will be so pleased when that weight peels off. Meanwhile, you need a surgery buddy. Ask your surgeon if he has another patient that has done well and is willing to be your go to buddy during the process. I managed to find some of my surgeon's patients on this forum and become buddies with them and that helped a lot. maybe you can do that too. meanwhile, visit this forum often. read my blog page and the blog pages of others who have been successful. reading these stories can be calming. and your surgeon should be giving you a detailed program to follow and if not, there are many on line that are good.    My husband had his vsg 10 weeks ago and panicked when he got into the or but everything worked out fine and he is losing fast.  gl   send me a pm if you have specific questions. Diane

OK, so to you and alll the preop folks up here freaking out, that's perfectly NORMAL! Everyone does it, everyone gets cold feet, you think of possible death, complications and how life will be afterwards. That's NORMAL! I don't care how much safer a procedure may be it is still surgery and there are always risk with anything.

Instead, do whatever it takes to stop freaking out. Prayer and good friends who supported me worked wonders! I didn't tell everyone but people really understood my struggle, especially those who have been around me for years, and they really felt this was best for me. Ironically they are non surgical friends.

Support groups were nice; I went to one right before, but I find your support team is better. I also used the stories and message boards on here for most of my support and still do. Don't get me wrong, I love my surgeon's support group and the classes & nutritional support and would not have agreed to do this procedure without an office that offers all that he does. However, I am more focused on my gym appointments after work which do not allow me to be as involved as I would like to be this. This site and message board has filled that gap and many offer invaluable advice.

Feel free to inbox me anytime with questions or the like. You'll find as you come up here more often that many will be a support to you and guide you along the way. Best of luck to you!
