Please help,! Does anyone else get sudden, urgent diarrhea?
Some times I get almost no warning. It's very scary. It feels like I can never know when it's going to hit. It only happens like once a month or so but when it does, I sometimes can't make it to the bathroom fast enough.
hat's a HUGE problem! So far, it's been at a time I could take the time to address my needs after my accident but I always worry I will be somewhere that I can't just leave all of a sudden because I had an accident. I had this sort of thing like once every other year before surgery but it is happening much more often now. It's super embarrassing and I worry it will begin to make me fear going out in public.
Please offer any experience or advice as to what is going on. Is this the dumping thing? I feel totally fine, then super urgent need to go, when I am done going, I am totally fine again. It's weird.
Please help me know what this is and what I can do to not let it change my life.
Thanks!

IBS maybe? I have a mild IBS and it does that to me in a milder form.
Try to figure out if there is a food group or type of food that might be doing it to you and then check with your PCP. Be prepared to possibly have to to get a colonoscopy (not fun).
I'm Lactose Intolerant (was before surgery) and too much of any dairy sends me over the edge.
I hope it goes away soon.

I had this problem to some extent before I had my my gallbladder removed. Track your food and see if something triggers it- in my case it was anything high in fat like hamburgers or chili. If something sweet triggers it then maybe it is dumping, or wheat could be a sign of a gluten sensitivity. My Dr. said I could double a dose of Immodium in situations like these. I think a trip to a G.I. specialist might be in order.

Tracking your food, and what you have eaten 1-2 hours prior to the event will help you determine what is going on. If you're having cramping, gas, or nausea, you might need to see a medical professional to rule out any other health issues. If you still have your gallbladder, definitely get it checked out. If you don't or just recently had it removed, high fat, or even just regular fat foods like salad dressing can cause diarrhea. I had to cut all fatty foods, dressings, sauces from my diet after my GB removed 8 months post-VSG.

I have the same problem and have no idea what causes it. Never experienced it pre op either. I had my gallbladder out years before my surgery and do not eat food high in fat. It doesn't usually happen right after I eat, more like in the middle of my day. I can just about tell when it's coming by the strange gurgle in my gut. Lucky for me that it's never happened in public, but I've come close.
I recently added "Digestive Advantage" to my routine. It seems to be helping some. It's a pro-biotic capsule. I get it at Walmart. It's slowed it down quiet a bit since I started taking it daily. You might give it a try. It does take a few weeks to notice a difference though.
Good luck. Let me know if you learn anything new too. He He
