Doctor gave me a work release for an entire month. I took three weeks  and went back. (2 weeks were winter break so school was closed.) I had a super easy recovery and was more than ready to go back to work.

My Dr. wrote 4 1/2 weeks but I requested an extra week off. With the weekend included I had a total of 6 weeks. I go back on Monday. Ahh!

I was off 5 weeks and it was hard going back, just due to fatigue. I was feeling pretty ok at home, but didn't realize how hard it would be to have people at me, decisions to make, problems to solve, non- stop.I have an office job, but it is very stressful and demanding, so be cautious. I would allow for more time and then go back sooner if you can.

My surgery is next week and I took off the three weeks post-op.  If I feel up to it, I'll go back sooner -- at least for a half day here and there.  Luckily my employers want me to take all of the time that I need.  If need be, I can access all of my work files, etc. from my home computer so I can actually work from home when I want to.

I remember when I had my gall bladder removed laproscopically, I was really tired for two weeks post-op, so I wanted to add an extra week to be sure.

Good luck!

I'm in sales and am in and out of the car and on my feet all day.  I took 3 weeks off.  I liked being back at work as I was going a bit stir crazy.  But when I get home I am exhausted and usually take an hour nap before helping my daughter with homework, etc.

I had a very easy recovery. I was technically 'Off' for a week, but I worked about half-time from home, and then full-time from home the following week.  I was back in the office at 2 weeks post-op and doing a 65 mile commute each way.

I went back to work a few days after.  I wish that I would not have.  Physically it was exhausting and I was not really tolerating much. I ened up going back in for IV hydration a few times.   I think I would have gotten off to a better start.
