I am a nurse and work an incredibly irradic schedule. I am concerned about my ability to maintain a rigid eating schedule. Any others work a job that makes eating on a schedule difficult ?

I work in an office, but often 16-18 hours a day, in and out of meetings,  out and about on a 300 acre facility, etc.I go from one crisis to another.   I have developed strategies for eating that work like always carrying food with me and being conscious of time by setting alarms on my phone. I have a private office with a refrigerator (I used a cooler bag before I bought my fridge), but I also carry an Atkins bar, almonds, or something with me when I go to meetings or out in the facility.

The secret is to plan ahead. I know that sounds counterintuitive when you have an erratic schedule, but having food at the ready, planned out ahead, makes all the difference in the world.

I am also a nurse. Work every weekend. I have a hard time getting my liquids in during work. My lips are so cracked when I get home esp. when I work days. I end up trying to make it up at home in the eve. Friday and Saturday were days from H---. and I didn't even get lunch or breaks either day. Today put lip balm in my pocket. Sometimes I end up taking too big if gulp of water then thats no fun either. I'm eight weeks out Tuesday, so I'm still learning. Good Luck coming up with a plan.

Hey Sean -

Do you really need a 'rigid' eating schedule?  I eat in between meetings, different times each day, and I do ok.  But I can keep water/protein shake at my hand, and I could see how you would have trouble with that as a nurse.

You might want to reach out to SuperRN597 - she's a nurse too, and has been extremely successful in her WLS journey.
