What's the deal with the 50% by 3 months, 80% by 6 months etc?
Oh, aren't you sweet.
I know it's very hard. I have ALWAYS been the one in the crowd to not lose at the rate that everyone else did. It has frustrated me to no end. I am totally shocked that this is working for me to be honest. I almost didn't even do the surgery because I was so sure I would not lose much, just like every other thing I had tried. So, I will be the last one to say someone is not trying hard enough or should do something different. Everyone is trying or they wouldn't be on here right? He He
I just wanted to know her plan. It's working for me, so I just wanted to fini**** out. I just could not remember the last part of the plan.
I wish everyone here great success. I wish with all of my heart that we will all make our goals and live free from this. I want so badly to be free and I want everyone else to be freed from it too. I pray all of us will get there and can live the lives we want, on our terms.
Good luck on your journey. Keep us posted on how it's going.
Thanks for your input as well.

I lost 32lbs preop in 3 months starting at a BMI of 51. My EWL % are from my surgery weight of 259 starting BMI in the high 40's. I'm 5'3", and certainly wasn't a light-weight for my size.
I'm doing this from memory since I don't have my spreadsheet on this computer, but here are my percentages:
1 mo: 21%
3 mo: 40%
6 mo: 67%
9 mo: 91%
10 mo: 96% (10/28/11)
I'm 2 1/2lbs from "100%" -- 140lbs, but still 18 from my personal goal of 124. We'll see, lol.
Stick to your plan and don't sell yourself short. Your weight will come off the way it's supposed to for your body. Everyone is different. Build good habits early, and they will stick with you.

Looks great!
You are almost there!
How exciting!!! I am sure you will hit your goal any day now! That has to feel awesome!!
Are you going to keep going for your personal goal? I am not sure what my personal goal is yet. He He. I wanted to be able to know I lost 100lbs, so I put that as my goal but I won't know until I am there if it's really where I want to stay. I am sure it will be there or less. Last time I was there, it was about 20 years ago. I wanted to lose more then but my image if "too thin" has changed a lot as I have gotten older, so I might be happy there now.
Anyway, I am so happy for your results and for you getting to your goal any day now!!!
Let us know when the big day arrives!!

That works. I am in no way saying this is what people "should do". I simply was trying to find where Elaina had published what her doc said he wanted his patients to do. That plan helps me to feel like I know if I am on track for my personal goals or not. I just couldn't remember what the last part of the plan was.
I don't ever push my goals on others. We are all on our plans and our bodies all have their own ways of dealing with things. Lord knows I am usually the one that never loses as quickly as all my friends do. I just wanted to review what I should be aiming for/expecting in the next phase, for me personally.
Thanks to all for your input. It sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the good work!
It really isn't about what someone told you about taking your sweet time or benchmarks. You are choosing to go from one extreme to another based on what strangers say. And not 'everybody' told you that those were the standard benchmarks.
BTW, I was about 200 pounds overweight. I am doing quite well at the pace that I am going, which is definitely not 50% in 3 months or 80% in 6 months. It would be silly for me to consider myself a failure for not following those benchmarks.
Do your best. So far it is working for you.

From the beginning I have stuck to the standard 600-800 cals (closer to 600), under 40g carbs (usually under 20, works for me and my restriction) and 70+ protein, and have lost at a happy rate. I predict I will hit goal by or possibly before a year.. and am likely to revise down a bit into the 140's if my body allows.
I didn't vary from this plan, and have been sticking to it 99% of the time without fail. I didn't hit those marks, but I also had at least 125lbs + to lose! I understand the reasoning behind getting it off while the "getting it off is easier" but frankly, I have no harder time now than I did at 2mo out.. just steadily plugging away at it, and my losses keep adding up. I wouldn't ever suggest to someone to purposely slow their losses though.. burnout happens to some, not all.. but it's a possibility.. so better to hit it hard from the get-go. For me, I see this as a lifestyle change, not a diet.. so there's no going off plan, no burnout.. this is a comfortable way to live for me, and the VSG made it even easier.. bonus!
