What's the deal with the 50% by 3 months, 80% by 6 months etc?

Well, I re-read the original posting and it did say that it might be harder for people with higher starting BMI's to reach those benchmarks. That being said, I do think it's a good thing to shoot for.

I wanted to lose 100 lbs and I did lose 50 in that first 3 months, so I am thinking maybe 60 lbs would be a little low for a goal for you, in my personal opinion. I really don't know but I have seen some major loses in the beginning for people with high BMI's.

I agree that just doing the program is all you really can do but this has helped me to stay on track. For me personally, I learned the hard way that I could not drop below my 70 grams of protein and that I could not go over the 30 grams carbs, or I would slow down a lot. It's not easy but I am determined to not get to the end and be stuck with 20-30lbs I can't shake for the rest of my life. We have worked to hard and done too much to get to the end of this journey and not be happy with the result. The people on the forum told me to run like h---- to the finish line, or I might be stuck with it forever. So, that's what I am trying to do. You are right though, to make those goals listed, it is a hard race to run but my life has changed so much already, it's so worth going for goal.

That's my take anyway. I am not expert by any means, just a girl trying to figure out how to make her dreams come true, like everyone else on here.

Good luck with your journey!
On my way!!!!!!

She's a lightweight so i'm thinking it was a guide for lightweight.  115 in three months seems extreme.

Everyone is different - I started at a high BMI and I'm down to 169 - just a few pounds short of losing 200 pounds.  OMG I can't believe I just said that,  It's taken me 18 months - and I'm losing 5 pounds or so every month now.  But that's ok because I am pretty religious about my workouts so I know I am building muscle - and I feel great.  I'm right on the verge of moving into size 10's.  I seem to have stayed in size 12's only for a very short time.

Focus on following your plan - and making lifestyle changes.  You'll get there when you get there.  But you will get there as long as you don't give up.

Just stick to your regimine for food and exercise. Stay in close contact w/your nutritionist. Take it one day at a time! Remember, your race, your pace!

I'm 6 months out and I almost never hit my calories. My doctor is ok with that as long as I'm getting in my liquids and protein, check with your NUT or doctor to see what is best for you. And I wouldn't recommend the eating junk to get calories in, super counterproductive.

OMG!!!! Wow!!!

See what I mean, some people really can rock the heck out of the beginning! 145lbs in 6 months!!!! Now that is amazing!!

I will hopefully hit 75lbs by then and I would feel like I won the lottery if I get there! You have almost doubled that!! Wow!! I guess it goes to show that some people can lose huge amounts in 6 months. Can I ask what you lost in the first 3 months?

Wow! Wow! Wow!   He He

I agree with you on the snickers thing though. He He. I drink juice when I needed to get to my calorie goal and really I only did that when I started feeling faint. I rarely got over 500 calories/day but I did get light headed sometimes and would have like 1/4 cup of juice to settle my brain back down.

I bow down to you though girl! Most excellent job!!

Crissy I was not saying that you wouldn't meet your goal.  I truely believe that you will.   I have a friend who started at your size and was at goal within 7 months.  I was just trying to help the lady with the higher BMI like mine understand that it sometimes takes longer for us to reach these goals.  I still have a goal weight lower than my surgeon and my sleeve is still working.  I believe in this surgery and believe that each one of us will make it.  That is why when she asked if people eat junk to reach their calories I told her I don't know that I just was not putting that junk in my body.  I workout seven days a week and have a hard time getting out of starvation mode.  I definately don't gain weight.  I am not one who gets hungry.  I have to remind myself to eat every couple of hours.  I could easily just drink and not eat during the day.  You are doing great I was not meaning anything about you or your goal.  I think it is good.
