What's the deal with the 50% by 3 months, 80% by 6 months etc?

A vet on here posted once that you should try to lose 50% of your excess weight by 3 months, 80% by 6 and the rest by some other point.

After you all shook me straight on not taking my sweet time to get the weight off, I have tried very hard to meet those benchmarks. At the end of the month, I will be at the 6 month mark! I think I will make the 80% goal. I will be close, if not all the way there.

I can't remember though what she said my final goal should be. Was the last 20% over the next 3 months? It was a cute gal in a white, tight sweater on her profile. Looking amazing I might add that posted this quiet a while ago.

Anyway, anyone know what the time frame for the last 20% is supposed to be? I am just trying real hard to stay the course now that you all told me if I don't meet those time frames on schedule, I might not ever make my goal. You only have to tell me that once! he! he!

On my way!!!!!!

I don't deal with those pre set benchmarks. I just do my best every day - that's all I can do, so whatever rate it comes off...

I know, I try not to too. But one time I posted something about could I take my sweet time losing the weight, thinking it all would come off eventually, or should I hurry up and get it all off. I got a resounding "no, you might not make you goal if you take your time." Well that kind of made me rethink things. Ever since then, I am trying to stay on a good time line and get the job done.

For me, it does help. When I know I have a plan and/or a date is coming up for me to measure my progress, I make sure to hunker down and sprint for my goal. I just don't want to be stuck with 20lbs that I can't lose and look back and know if I just would have tried harder, I could have lost them for good.

Anyway, so far it's working. I just can't remember what my goal should be for the last 20%.

Thanks so much for your input!

Well that's cool! I am ahead of the game then! Love that!

I don't know exactly where she got those numbers from but I have tried to meet them since they are the only ones I had ever heard. So far I have been pretty close but it is tough. Your numbers are a little easier to attain!

But, I guess the sooner I make goal, the sooner I can switch to maintenance or keep going I guess. He He

Thanks though, that makes me feel a little better. My doc never said anything about this stuff that I can recall.

I think I remember seeing a post like the from Elina. I will see if I can find it for you, I have not had surgery yet, but when I do, I am going to try to make these goals also.

Yeah, that was her name. The goals are not super easy (at least for me) but so far I have been very close. I think it's a good plan. I am thinking it's the last 20% in 3 months but I am not sure.

Of course I am going to do my best, but her schedule seems to be right on with my body. So I guess in a way, I am asking how long it will take me to get that last 20% off. He He.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you soooooooooo much! That was exactly what I was looking for!

I guess she says I should lose the last 20% over the next 6 months. I guess I don't know what to expect then. He He Figures ha? You find it for me, and it still doesn't really answer my question. He He

I guess I will just stick to the plan and see what happens. So far, I have tried to stick to the plan and have been very close to her doc's stated objectives. I have just been so close the that plan, that I thought it might be able to predict when I should hit my goal.

I guess my best guess would be to see what my current average rate is and hope it continues for a few more months. Who knows. Like the other poster said, I guess all I can do is work the plan and hope for the best.

Thanks again for looking that up for me! It has really helped me so far!
