Does anyone ever test themselves and go back to basics?

Hey Kristen,
Congrats on your plastics I hope to have mine next year if I can make it to goal by March before nursing school starts. I wanted to know how long did you stay on protein shakes to get to goal? I have been staying at 800 calories a day and the scale has been stuck, so I increased my calories and the scale moved down 4 pounds. I also read that the protein shakes are excreted out in our urine after drinking them, should I be drinking them still? Or should I be trying to get all my protein from food? I have 63 more pounds to lose and I am 8 months post op?
I'm glad your recovering well.

I have done 1 shake a day almost my whole journey. I do it for the vitamins and also to make sure i make my daily protein goal. i do think it is best to get most of the protein from food, some doctors say all. Its all very variable. there are a million opinions.
For me i have one in the morning in place of a starbucks so i know i get 15g in for the day right there. i actually enjoy them.
im sorry your scale isnt moving as much as you would like. i think after the initial few months it does slow down but it definitely shouldnt stop unless you are stalling which is common. it sounds like you know what you are doing, i imagine as long as you stick to the plan you should get there. how long it takes is another story.
everyone is very different but i personally got to my first goal of 160 at 7 months out..over the last few months I creeped down to 145..and have kind of hovered there. i was one of the lucky ones that didnt have stalls, not because i was the perfect VSG'er, far from it. There are many who exercise more than me, eat less carbs, etc. I just think alot depends on our own bodies.

Thanks Kristen,
I am going to start pulling off of all those protein shakes and start eating protein rich foods and hopefully this scale starts moving consistently.
