Does anyone ever test themselves and go back to basics?

I was wondering if anyone here peridoically "tests" themselves by going back to shakes for a few days here and there?

Im in maintenence and doing fine but I always wonder if I gained weight back how would I get a handle on it before it got out of control..

I kind of wanted to experiment today and see if I can just do protein shakes. I have read that some of the vets do this or the 600 cal, 40g carb thing when they gain to get back to their proper weight.

Am I just being paranoid by trying this or is it good to know how to get the weight off, should I gain. Maybe its the years of yo-yo dieting making me feel like I could gain the weight back anytime?

Let me know what you think!
P.S. I have wayyyy too much time on my hands recovering from Plastics! AND i was lurking on the 'failed weight loss' message board.

Hey Mary!

Had tummy tuck, breast lift, thigh lipo, and breast augmentation on 11/3, 11 days ago. Recovery has been pretty easy, more painful than VSG but completely tolerable.

Im laying low, just staying around the house so I can heal properly. I feel pretty good so I know I have to curb my activity because I could run around like a mad woman at this point.

So far I LOVE my new rack. Silicone implants feel pretty real. I have a chest again! And its not down to my knees.

My tummy is looking better every day...but Im a little pissed because my scar is really high on the side and it cant be hidden easily. Im actually pretty upset about it but trying not to focus on it..things could be worse. I could have real problems other than a visable scar.

So that's the scoop!

Congrats on having plastics done.  I know eventually I will have to have all of that done too but I had no idea that they could do it all in one surgery.  Glad to know that you are feeling pretty good considering all that was done.

You can have your scar revised for free (this is most PS) when you heal but make sure to tell him not your are upset with it.  depending on how big it can usually be done with local and in his office.  i had an dog ear under one of my arms from my breast lift and he repaired it for me but i was upfront about needing that done from the first post op appt.  also one side of my TT was higher than the other and he repaired that also free of charge.  The scar stuff is just surface so it's pretty easy to revise.  don't worry it's a snap.

omg i cannot thank you enough for posting this. this will keep me sane until wednesday.

i have been literally crying half the morning about this! i feel like crap.

i have a post-op appointment on wednesday and planned on asking her about revising it but then was freaking out about more surgery.

i was wondering if there is even enough skin to make it lower? i have been freaking that she cant fix it.  i can totally 100% handle her fixing it in the office if she can i will be over the moon.

i know in my contract it says anything revisional within a year they dont charge for but i would be responsible for anesthesia again and things like that.

i will keep you posted.

Yes but unless it is a huge discrepancy you won't need anesthesia.  You're still swollen I'm betting when that calms down there will be enough for her to manipulate.  You should be able to hide a TT scar in a bikini bottom, this is pretty much what a PS will shoot for.  it is aesthetics after all and symmetry.  Her mistake.  This I'm sure will be fine. It's really routine.

On another not, BTW I'm a chronically slow loser, actually not sure if i'm technically a loser at all anymore but i digress.  I didn't know there was a failed wls board.  When you mentioned it on here i moseyed on over there.  Boy did that freak me out.  Lucky I'm not still drinking because I'd have a stiff one in my hand right now.

No, and this is why;

I truly believe that going back to all liquids or shakes is NO different than my crash dieting attempts of my past failed dieting plans. It causes a vicious cycle in my mind. I feel deprived, pissed off, my body retains water like a ***** and overall, I feel like crap. So, I refuse to ever put myself through that again. I don't care how much weight I'd drop by doing that, it's not worth it considering I know it's going to make me miserable.

What I will do and have done on 2 solid occasions after a gain (last holiday season I had a solid gain of 7lbs after 3 months of copious amounts of alcohol and party foods), I will cut all carbs again. I don't feel deprived as long as I'm eating solid, tasty, nutrient dense foods. I mainly cut white carbs, and junk food out .

It's just what works for my little mind and emotions. Others love doing the pouch test or a week of shakes, but I just can't do it. The instant gratification of seeing 3-5lbs drop on the scale isn't worth me being bat**** crazy for the week. Plus, when I cut all carbs (back down to 30-50gr a day), I drop weight super fast, I dropped those 7lbs in about 10-14 days. So, it gave me the results I needed and wanted without having to do liquids.
