Sweet Potatoes?!?

Sweet Potatoes. Ive had 'em french fried, casseroled, candied, covered in sugar, covered in marshmallows, covered in butter, mixed with nuts, you get the picture!!

But oh heaven...I never had them plain. Baked in the oven. Unaccosted by spices, salt, and sugar.

They are the ambrosia of the Gods...Have you tasted one, unadulterated? Just the flesh. By itself.

Why the heck to we accost them to cook them? They are amazing plain.

I baked some tonight, to mash and make a cupcake recipe with...and I tasted some right out of the oven. There is nothing like it.

They are loaded with vitamin A, actually 786% the daily value..and shout out to the carb police, they have carbs! (lightening strike!) But holy moly.

Just wanted to share.

Somebody I know who is a guru on food and nutrition for athletes swears by the Sweet Potato....Claims it's one of the "Wonder Foods"

On a side street in Tokyo.....under an overpass ....near a train station....there is a old man and his wife sitting on the tail gate of an old truck......Roasting Sweet Potatoes right in the back of his truck......They are there to late in the nite selling Roasted Sweet Potato's.....People are lined up all the time....As far as I can tell...they eat them plain.....I've never had it.....but I'm gonna next time I go.....

See.... if you were my girlfriend ..... I'd be taking you to Tokyo for a Sweet Potato Date.....under a bridge.....eating off the back of a truck !!!! Pretty Romantic ehh !!! That's how I roll !

Under an overpass, near a train station, on the back of an old truck... Maybe it's just because it's Halloween night, but this sounds like the opening scene of a great horror flick!  LOL Loved the imagery written into you post!

Love 'em ! Baked in the jacket, plain. Also pre cook in microwave until just about half way cooked, slice in rounds, toss with a bit of olive oil and put on the bbq grill or on a cookie sheet in oven. shake some garlic powder, a bit of salt, pepper to taste -- savory and yummy.

I agree......they are amazing plain.  Very naturally sweet.  Although - I do admit that my favorite way to make them is to bake it plain in the oven but then split it and add very little butter (not margarine) and sprinkle with cinnamon.

That is very healthy and you are not adding any sugar to it.

They are a great food.

I love me some Baked Sweet Potatoes, with a little lemon pepper and French Vanilla Greek Yogurt, but have to stay way from them since, I'm not near goal yet and the seem to contribute to my stalls.
