Woke the monkey
Is it real hunger? or head hunger?
Take a 15 minute walk - if you still FEEL hunger after that - it's real, if you are distracted...and not hungry - that's head hunger.
We all get head hunger - it's part of our addictive personalities. It's learning to deal with it that's hard.
They operate on out stomachs, not our heads...so the cravings will always be there...it's knowing the difference.....

I've started tokeep Detour Bars in my purse in case of emergencies. The large size bar is 30g protein, but way too big for us vsg kids. They sell smaller ones with 15 g whey protein by the box at costco- the make a great stopgap if you need one. 17g Carbs and 170 calories if you are counting everything. I like the idea of the box in the backseat!
I am not a big fan of bars, but I have discovered the Atkins Daybreak Bars. They have 140-160 calories, 6-10g of fiber, and 10g protein, 16 Carbs. They do not have tons of sugar alcohol, and they're not grossly sweet, and they're not candy bar texture -- more 'crispy'. I keep the Chocolate Chip Crisp bars around for a quick, discrete snack. If I get held up in a meeting or something, it's not really possible to crack open Tuna and start eating. When I start to get that 'my blood sugar is low' feeling that I get rather than actual hunger, they are a lifesaver.
It's interesting when we finally find the *it* food once again isn't it? However, your description of the food really isn't scary--just think if you'd chowed down on sliders instead? The thing is that the protein did its job for you--yes you might think you want more of that tasty stuff and you might even get another bite, and you might find yourself getting the foamies because of it. I wouldn't worry too too much about the monkey at this point, it sounds like you've made really good choices.
I suggest those super duper sugar free fabulous chewing gums now in dessert flavors to take your mind off the *monkey ****
I still don't get too excited over dinners at this point, and I find it all depends on what I've eaten during the day. I still think you made a great choice, it does sound VSG friendly, and certainly our heads are going to be a hassle for a long, long time, if we EVER get over the food thoughts.
HANG IN THERE.
