One of the most fun parts of this journey has been pushing my new body, and learning what exercises and healthy activities my body and mind enjoy..

So my best friend dragged me to Bikram Yoga, an hour and a half yoga session done in a 100+ degree room.. it was hard but I got through it! I wanted out about 40 minutes in..but stuck with it and was better for it.

Not one of my favorites, but at least I can say I tried it.

What activities have you tried that you could never have done pre-VSG?

Wow that sounds like hell!  I do not enjoy being hot in the least.  Glad you tried something new though.

Yay you for trying Bikram!

I'm an addict...I get to class 6 days a week and occasionally make it 7 days. It's incredible and I love it.

But before you give up on it, try it for at least 5 classes. You might become hooked!

I thought about trying it, but now where I am just 5 weeks post op I worry more about the dehydration. My friend told me they drink close to 2 L of water a class and I am struggling still to get all my water in with the stopping 30 mins prior and then waiting 1 hr after I am done. It is a hard job getting the water in so I thought maybe I would easy back into the pureed foods cause I just don't have room for food and water.

The last few days with this cold is pretty hard as well. I had an egg for breakfast the other day and that was it for food, I just seem to want hot liquids with the cold. I did get my protein drinks in though.

This hot yoga is suppose to be good for people with bad joints, the heat and moisture allows you to expand more apparently. I am afraid to try it just because I don't like that kind of temperatures either. Plus it is very expensive here, I think it is close to 240 a month here unlimited.

I definitely would not even consider trying it for the first 6 months for exactly the reasons you stated- you need to be hydrated and stay hydrated. I struggled with hydration for several months and had to get fluids in the hospital several times as I was healing.

I was still a little worried about being hydrated, even 10 months out, so I made sure to drink drink drink the night before, morning of, and during class!

Colds post-op can knock you on your ass! make sure to stay hydrated like you seem to be doing. my immune system sucked for a few months post op so i got sick alot. glad those days are over,.

ok, good to know your immune can suck for a few months which isn't good for me. I think one of my children had it before me because I was questioning and listening for another cough one night if it was croup, never heard another cough but two days later I get a sore throat and figured out that was probably wha****ing the baby a few nights prior. It is still hard to get all fluids in and not sure how to with including food, so just backing off of the food a bit and back to mainly fluids.

Hope I never have to go to the hospital for fluids, doesn't sound like fun.
