Does not getting in your water slow your weight loss?

I recently learned the valuable lesson of getting in my protein. My weight loss slowed a ton the two weeks I didn't get it all in.

I am out three months now and my weight loss is slowing down quiet a bit again but I have not been so on top of my water intake. I am very busy so it's hard to do many times.

I am wondering if it's just normal to slow around 3 months out or if I need to focus hard on my water and my protein intake too. I am diligent about my protein now, just not my water.

On my way!!!!!!

Yes, crappy water intake can slow loss, or so it seems. and dont forget you need 1 ounce of water for every gram of protein for your kidney's to process it.

but weight loss does slow over time. when you say slow do you mean like  going from 20lbs a month loss the first month to 10lbs a month the third? because that's normal.

Yeah, I lost 2 &1/2 lbs last week and 2lbs this week. I was just trucking along at 3-31/2 lbs each wee****il I hit 3 months, then all of a sudden my rate dropped down quiet a bit. I was just curious if not getting enough water could do that all of a sudden or if it's just normal since I am three months out and down 1/2 of my excess body weight (50lbs lost so far).

Thanks!

Whats your calorie intake.........

Sounds like what commonly happens to sleevers (not all) that are on 1200-1400 calorie plans.......

At 3 months you should be in a good WL stride. (yes, I know everyone is different....geneally speaking)

I am pretty sure my calories are not my problem. I am lucky to get in 600 a day. I almost never cheat.

I guess maybe I am in a good stride and don't realize it. I lost 2 &1/2 lbs last week and 2 this week. I was just used to 3-3 1/2 lbs a week. I am still losing, just not nearly as fast. I have lost 1/2 my excess body weight, 50lbs so far, so I guess maybe that's why it's slowed some? What do you think?

I don't know if it's just I closer to normal weight or if it's because I have been slack on my water intake. I know you can't say for sure, just wonder what you think.

Thanks!

Yah know.... after I posted....I noticed your surgeon and I'm familiar with his plan.... so I thought it probably wasn't calories.....

Besides what others have mentioned and your suspicions......the only other thing I can think of would be sodium.......

Your weight loss sounds great !!! My weight lose wasn't very consistent per day or week....but monthly was pretty close and with a consistent taper off as the months went by.......

My loss slowed in mo4, despite staying on plan.. stayed really slow in mo5, and most of mo6.. this mo, I'm set to lose at mo2 rates from the looks of it.. I have done nothing different! I track everything, and nothing has changed in my intakes despite the scale differences, it's just what my body is doing. My pattern of losing changed as well. So, as long as you are on top of everything, tracking so you know the real numbers, get more water, and keep getting your protein :) it just may be the way you will be losing for a bit.

Well it's good to know it can just vary for no appearant reason and it doesn't mean I am doing something wrong. I am in nursing school which is very demanding, so I don't track much. I keep a mental track of my protein and keep close tabs on that and kind of on my water but with so much else going on, I really don't track anything.

I have lost 1/2 of my excess weight in 3 months, so I know I am on track overall, so I don't get too worried about tracking everything. Even though I don't track my intake, I don't eat junk or drink any calories except protein shakes. I did learn the hard way though that I must meet my protein goal even if I don't eat much or I will stall right away. So, I do keep on top of that.

I lost 2 1/2 lbs last week and 2 this week, so I guess with only 50lbs left to go and 1/2 of my excess weight gone, maybe my body is just slowing down like many people do the closer they get to goal. I was just wondering if my lower water intake could be causing my slow down. It was just werid because I always lost 3-3 1/2 lbs every week since like week 3, always, so this drop kind of made me wonder.

Let me know if you have any input Jo.

Thanks!

For me, the answer to that question is yes. I can't speak to anyone else but I think that all of the above answers are good answers and things to think about.

Just remember that not getting your liquids can still lead to getting dehydrated. And no one wants to go to the hospital for fluids. Hope you continue to do well.
