Ok, here is my answer (disclaimer, I am an ignorant ***** when the need arises) **** um! 3 *****es dont stop no show!!! GO to the party and have a good time. Look them directly in the face, scrunch your mouth to the left, and turn around with your hair whippin behind you and don't say one flippin thing to them and keep havin a good time!!  Trust me, their "dislike" is all about jealousy (your success in life and friendships) and no matter what you will do will make them change their minds about you. And the hubby probably has been lookin at you and the old bag (yeah, I can say that cause I'm in my 40's) done caught him cause you were a pretty girl even heavy and you are smokin now.... Anyone who knows you ain't worried about their complaints because they know they are "talkin out the side of their necks".  Me, I would really be ignorant and wear something totally sexy and stand near them (without saying a word to them) all night just for ****s and giggles but that's just me!!! LOL

GO AND HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!

I agree with Bradilynn,
Why go if they are going to treat you like ****  It's so not worth it.

I say go and have a damn good time. If there are going to be more than 100 people there, why do you even have to be near them? Plus, are you going to cancel all get togethers that they may attend? You have a right to be there, you were invited. Why let them run you off? You have done nothing wrong.  Again, I say go and have a good time.

Hmmm...I think it depends on how close you are with this date. Does he know the history between you and this family? Is he the reason you have been around these people in the past?

If he knows and understands, I might try and take that night off. Maybe meet up with the date before or afterwards.

OR it may be one of those suck-it-up-and-do-it things that we do for our partners from time to time.

If these people really get to you and it upsets you that they dislike you, then I would try and get out of it.

If you can live with the fact that not everyone is going to love you and thats okay, then I'd go and just try and steer clear of the hosts as much as possible.

ETA: I just read Brandilynn's post and now I'm all carpe-diem-ish. Don't go if these people are going to bring you down. I'm sure you have better things to do with your time.

Wait, I want to make sure I am getting this, the people who hate you are throwing a party for ANOTHER person you know? Or is the party for one of the people who hate you?

If the party is for one of the people who hate you I would probably skip it, why bother? Don't give them the satisfaction. IF I am understanding correctly and the party is being thrown BY them FOR another friend, then I would go to show that friend that you want to celibate their birthday and ignore the jerks.

Wear your hottest dress, look your best and IGNORE them, pretend they don't even exist and if they try to speak to you, walk away like you didn't hear them.

I'm with Branilynn you are way to cool togo where you are not wanted and feel miserable. Those mean people will have to find someone else to complain about.  If your date is really important to you and going to the party is really important to him, go but only for a short time.  Keep it polite and leave happy.  Life is too short to party with mean people.

I, too, am hot headed so I can get where you are coming from...

that being said, there is no reason to willingly insert yourself into a situation where you know that it might could set you off. Personally, there's no way in heck I'd be going to this party. I'd bid my date a great evening, let him have fun with his best friend and have a good night doing something that would make me happy, rather than miserable and hating life.

As BL said, life is way too short to deal with that kind of crap. Haters gonna hate, but you don't have to support it or feed it.
