ok I don't see much people talking about eating liver, I know it is high in many nutrients but it is high in cholesterol. Just wondering if it is a no no post op as I don't see it mentioned very much here or on my post op menu instructions

I've had it and still like it.  Don't eat it very often because it's fatty, not very lean.  Also, it only tastes good to me when it's got bacon on it, another "once in a blue moon" meat.

Got to keep things in balance, and fatty meats; bacon, liver, sausages etc are more for treats every other month.

My go-to meats; ground turkey, chicken, lean pork, fish, occasional lean beef and the veggie proteins; edamame and other soy products, lentils, beans, peas, quinoa are what I need to eat on a day to day basis if I'm going to keep losing.

If I didn't have a cholesterol issue, I would eat it. Its fairly low in calories and high protein. So if you don't have high C, why not eat it?  Diane

Was just a question. I don't have high cholesterol but I didn't think it had that many bad fats, it has omega in it and it is very high in protein. Maybe it is not dense enough? I might eat it once a year, it is not something I buy very often but love a feed of liver, mushrooms and onions every now and then. I use to eat it cold (after it was cooked) right out of the fridge. It does taste good cold bu with a load of salt on it lol.

I eat liver regularly, which comes to about once a month.  A local cafeteria chain (Luby's) has a great liver and onion entree.
