Does it matter for your skin how fast you lose?
Your body has more time to adjust and regulate the proportion of fat loss around the body if you go slower however, the sagging skin is an individual thing and from what I have read mostly depends on age and how much you have damaged the skin. I know there are areas that I have stretched extremely thin that will not ever come back to normal on their own. I was though almost 400 lbs to start with and may not be the case for you. Just lose the weight and be healthy first worry about the skin after.
No.. it does not. If you were heavy long enough to grow EXTRA skin, that skin is there until its removed.
For me, I knew surgery was not an option, so I knew that I would have extra skin (because I had been heavy for a good while) and weight lifting so that my extra skin had a lovely frame to drape over was going to be my best bet.
Lotions, oils, potions, losing slow, those things are not going to make any difference to extra skin that has grown because we were big for so long, or skin that is seriously damaged as evidenced by stretch marks.
Now! Lotions, oils and potions help our skin not be ashy and be glowy and can make us smell good and feel good! But its not going to change how your skin retracts or does not.

Hmm. I was hoping giving it time would work. He He
On a good note though. My hubby lost 75lbs in 6 months, right before we met and he never did have lose skin. He was young then though. He was like 28 then. So, I guess for some lucky few, it works out.
I don't think I will be one of them though. He He I am 42 and my arms already sag some. I am just hoping not to need all of the plastics. Ha Ha
Thanks for your response!

I put this in a newish thread so you could see all the pictures better. I was 42 when I had surgery. I had been over 200 pounds for a good 10 years.
Here is a picture of my "before" back.
here is a picture of weight loss, but not lifting yet (I am a cardio and lift separately kind of gal)
You can see that the back batty wings are still very much in place, not plump and rolly, but still very much there.
Here is a "Montage" of befores and when I started lifting and my skin filling out.
This is a picture that is in the above, but I will post separately because some folks miss it because they do not scroll over.
And here is something I just recently posted on the maintenance board - that even at the same weight, skin can change without the weight changing so much.
So! All of this to say, your skin may surprise you, and putting muscle on never hurts. There are some places on your body that leaner is not going to be prettier - period. LIke my tum, for instance, or my bottom. So, for me to just lose more weight because I do not like how those two things look are not going to help me like how it looks any better.
But! You never know until you get there! And making the exercise habit and getting yourself some good calorie burning muscle is never a bad thing!

Wow!!! What a post!!! I am still trying to process all of that!! He He.
You look sooooo awesome! I am still in the before hand photo! Ha Ha.
I used to be fit though. You know how people come up and start talking to you about how they need to get back in shape, kind of fit. I am sure you get that all the time. So, even though that girl is a distant memory, she is still there. I am hoping that in time I will find that I feel like I can do it again.
You sure sell weight lighting well though girl! I was always a swimmer. I looked liked I lifted weights when I was a swimmer though. You really are helping me remember that great time in my life. It was the only time I ever remember feeling proud of the way I looked. It was so great to not feel self conscious about the way I looked. It was so freeing.
I was lucky. I swam laps for about 30 minutes, 3 times a week and looked like I worked out all the time. I was going to start back swimming laps again just today. You have inspired me to go. I am going today! I learned back then, it all starts with just one day. I started getting fit with a challenge. I bet my brother $100 buck that he would start back smoking before I quit exercising. He He. Well, I won that bet. Ha Ha but it kept me going for so long, that by the time he lost, it was already a lifestyle for me.
Thanks again. You need to post these often. It helps us see that there is fitness after fatness! He He. I had given up on that life, that wonderful life. Thanks so much for reminding me that it was me, me, who was that fit girl once, and I can get back to her. I will start. I will find her again. And when I do, I will post like you did and hopefully inpsire others like you did me today!
Thanks again!

Sorry, information from me is like trying to drink with a fire hose, I know. I just try and put all the information down I can think of to answer questions you might ask, so you can just cull through the information, and then if you *need* me to clarify (or confuse you further!) I am glad to!
You are that girl. The fact that you can *see* your body change so much quicker when you have your diet and your exercise on the same page really is helpful to keep you inspired!
And also not promising that you are going to do a zillion something every day, scheduling in rest days, so you do not rush in hard and burn yourself out before you have had a chance to see any progress.
It does all start with just one day! GO girlie! I am excited for you to share how much you have progressed and you WILL inspire folks!
They might not say it, but it does happen even when folks do not say.
