Yup... I'm a cyster here too... I had surgery the 7/19...

I was down about 10 lbs below this 8 years ago, and none of my symptoms resolved... but I have high hopes anyway :-)

I will tell you, after surgery I had the worst period of my life, and i have had some seriously bad ones.  Like egg size blood clots, at least a pad an hour, I broke down and bought depends to wear over everything else at night to try and avoid leaks... if I managed to sleep for 4 hours it would reach flood levels... my doctors all agreed I should be pounding motrin even though it's not good for a tummy that was just operated on... and after a week they put me on hormones that stopped it... for a few days... now its back but not insane.

AND it wasn't because I hadan't had my period in forever either, that I could maybe kind of understand, but It started being "around" most of the time since I started my low carb diet back in March :-(

They don't quite know what to do with me except wait and see... they did an ultrasound... all looks fine... go figure.  I guess I'll just say I HOPE your experience is better than mine, but be prepared!!!

Still.... no regrets!

I had the same problem with super heavy periods several years ago when I was first diagnosed.  Periods so bad I was anemic!  I got an IUD and it has been a life saver!  Have not had a period in 7 years, when before there was at least 2 weeks a month that I could barely leave the house.  Not sure if that would work for you but maybe something to consider?  It didn't really do anything about any of the other symptoms but was a huge relief!

I have heard that... I see my ob/gyn in late sept again... one of my issues is that I want a baby in the next 3-4 years... BUT, as I am getting divorced, I kinda need a daddy... lol... but it does figure in...

I'm currently anemic too :-(   It sucks.

Thanks for the info!!!

They can take the IUD out before the 5 years are up.  Its very quick and I have heard of several people getting pregnant within just weeks of removal!  But a Daddy is still important :) lol

I am so glad that I did the IUD that when I hear of anyone having those issues always want to make sure they know there could be a solution!

Good luck to you!!!

Hi Laurie! I'm a cyster...have been for 19+ years. Surgery was in March and I'll be 5 months postop next week (actually, ON your surgery date). You can see my loss in my ticker...a pretty good loss if I do say so myself!

The best advice I can give is to take it one day at a time...slow and steady wins the race! It WILL happen for you...stick with the program, expect (and accept!) stalls as well as the ups and downs and you'll do fine! I'll be sending good thoughts your way!!

Two quick adds....
-I am one of the few who doesn't extreme low-carb...been there, done that YEARS ago....lost and gained it all back as soon as I re-introduced carbs. I didn't want that - I went into this process wanting to be able ALL foods, whenever I wanted...BUT, in moderation. I am doing EXACTLY that and it's working for me. As a matter of fact, I 1/4 cup of pistachio ice cream with a sprinkle of granola is what I'm enjoying right now - I should add that I've managed .5lb loss per day this week.
-I hadn't had a period in 8 months and then had one in Feb....very brief period. Surgery in March and then no cycle at all untill mid-July. First time I've had a "normal" cycle in years. We'll see what happens this month!
