What were your results on Biotin? Did it help?

I am all for protein thickeners.. except some dry my hair out & make it frizzy with use, have you tried the Mega Tek, is it good?

I use Kpack once a week or so and it seems to help. Unfortunately it won't stop the shed, but it makes what's there look better!

Also to the OP or anyone who is interested, I don't know about anyone else- but my hair loves it if I don't wash every day.. I switched to SLS free shampoos- that helps.. and I do the conditioner-only wash every day (google it or CO washing to learn how), shampooing after 3-4 days or so. My HG for this is the cheap-o VO5 clarifying conditioner in Vanilla Mint for 1$ at CVS (you use a lot of it to wash) followed by Kenra's Platinum Color-Care for fine/thin conditioner to get any build up out.. hair is soft, not frizzy and very shiny!

Okay Jo, I am really interested in what you have to say here. The only problem is I am not that good at figuring out abbreviations! Ha Ha

Could you tell me what you think in simpler terms? Ha Ha Sometimes I get so lost trying to figure out what things mean, I kind of get lost and lose the message.

I am not sure what a Kpack is or Mega Tek or even a protein thickeners for that matter. Ha Ha  I guess I need to go the store or salon a lot more. Ha Ha

I did catch the main part about not washing your hair every day. I don't do that anyway. I would love to know how to go keep it from looking greasy though. Ha Ha I have used baby powder when my hair was blonde but it I am thinking of going darker and I don't think it would work for that. Any ideas?

Thanks hun! I love getting your input.
On my way!!!!!!

Kpack and Mega Tek are hair products- protein conditioners/treatments... Protein adds thickness to the hair shaft, but can cause it to dry out and break if overused.

Google "conditioner only washing or CO washing" and you will find a lot of websites that explain how to use conditioner to "wash" your hair.. basically, you put plenty of cheap condish & scrub it around, let it sit while you wash the rest of yourself so it can break up the grease, then scrub one more time and rinse well, usually followed by another quick wash & rinse with a conditioner you usually use or like. Here's one person's explanation.. and she covers the protein stuff too! I have to shampoo every few days anyway, but it makes my frizzy, slightly curly hair behave better.. (my avi pic was after having it flat-ironed!)

I lost 1/2 of my hair but after 6 months of trying anything a combination of Biotin and "Nioxin Cleanser, System 1" shampoo stopped the lost of hair in 2 weeks and now 2 months later i can see the hair start to grow back even when i m swimming 3-4 time a week for one hour.

My hair stylist recommended to me and i get it from amazon for like $20 a bottle 33 oz (i got the first one from the salon 10 oz for $22) but i was happy to try it and after i saw result getting it from amazon.
Was the only thing worked from me, maybe would work for u as well.

I have been using the Nioxin too. Someone on here said it was great so I have been using it. So far, I really don't notice much difference other than my hair seems more frizzy to me. I don't think I have lost any hair yet so I guess it's either working or it's too early to matter. Ha Ha

Either way, it's paid for and so is the Biotin, so I guess I will use them up and see what happens. I sure wish there was something more we could do. Oh well, I will live either way;)

Thanks for the input everyone!
On my way!!!!!!

I am trying to keep my hair, like all of us do. Ha Ha

Anyway, I read on here to take Biotin. I normally don't like adding just anything to my diet like that but I really don't want to lose my hair either.

Could anyone tell me about the results they got on Biotin? And how much they took?

Thank so much!
Pretty much everyone looses some hair at about the 2-3 month mark. I started loosing my hair so I started taking 2000 units of biotin 2x a day to help it to grow back in (you can't stop it from falling out but you can help the new hair to grow back in). I'm now about 2 months down the road on the biotin and my hair is growing back in already. The other interesting thing is that it really helped my facial hair too (not really applicable to the ladies). My beard and mustache haven't looked this full in years!
In short, I take it & it works very well for me.. Craig
