I slept in a recliner for the first week. I can only lie on my back and it is so uncomfortable after a few hours.

I still get in my chair at about 4am just cause I can't lie there looking at the ceiling any longer.

I had to "sleep" in a recliner for the first week. I'm pretty sure I didn't sleep much.

By day 10, i'm sure I was sleeping on my side/stomach, otherwise I would have went psychotic from not sleeping. I found that it helped to prop a pillow under my side.

I'm sure you didn't do any damage to your tummy. Your body will be tell you if you shouldn't do it- PAIN.

Thanks for the posts!

I don't sleep on my stomach, it was just because I was laying out tanning. I was just worried that squishing my fat around laying on my tummy maybe could have done damage to my stitches. I probably should have thought of it first, but didn't.

Does anyone know how to tell if I caused a leak?

I am sure I am fine but I wish I hadn't done it.

Thanks to all who have posted!!

My surgeon said signs of a leak: rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, nausea, fever, chills....

He said it would be obvious when you tried to eat/drink....

I don't know if it's true or not, but that was what I was told.

P.S., I have slept on my side pretty much a few days post-op. It's been fine. Just thought some people might want to know it was fine as far as pain. No one told me not too and my doc asked how I normally slept before surgery. So I guess it is okay to do.

Happy sleeping to all!!

I'm a stomach/side sleeper and would wake up on my stomach in the first week and then I saw my doctor about 10 days and said that I was totally fine.  If it didn't hurt me to do it, it was okay.

I slept on my stomach the first night in the hospital, lol.. Cracked the nurses up, and they said it was great I wasn't in pain.. So you are fine!

I'm sure at 10 days out you're OK on your stomach. I'm a side sleeper. I rolled onto my side the second they put me into bed from the recovery room. Either side was OK for me. I don't know if this made a difference or not, but I didn't have a drain.
