You'll love your sleeve Luna --
The success patients are having with the sleeve mimick the DS and RNY.  The weight loss is almost the same --- even though it's less invasive.
If your weight stalls, or you have a huge amount to lose -- it still keeps the option of revising to a DS open at a later time.   My surgeon chose this procedure for me, and I'm happy with it!
Zero hunger, always satisfied -- such small portions.  Crazy small.
I used to listen to people say -- you just push your food away.  You don't want it.  And I always thought it would taste like more, even if you were full.   It's not like that.  You literally have to remind yourself to eat by the clock -- not by feeling hungry.  If I'm empty, I'm nauseous... not hungry.  It's so weird and wonderful all at the same time!
Good luck with your sleeve!  You'll love it!

Thank you for the perspective, Carly.  I so appreciate the support you guys are giving me.  I feel like I'm starting back at square one with having to change procedures, but you guys are giving me some hope.  Thank you so much.  I wish you EXTREME success with your journey.

Be safe and well, B.B.

I chose the sleeve because it just seemed like a simpler way of life post op.  You just eat less.  Period.  No complications, nothing getting stuck.  It's just life, only with less food.  Which is what I wanted.  I am 120 pounds down, 2 yrs post op, 61 yrs old; look and feel 20 yrs younger.  This morning's breakfast was a half cup cottage cheese and an apple, and I could only eat half of it.  Saving the other half for mid morning snack.  Oh, had coffee as well.  And I can take any meds that I need to and don't have to worry about not absorbing them.

You will LOVE LOVE LOVE your sleeve.

Thank you "Bee" -- I definitely hear you on the complications.  Med absorption issues are a real issue for me -- that's why my surgeon changed to the sleeve from the RNY.   I hope I have the great success you and the other posters have had.  Take care and enjoy the incredible journey you're having on the loser's bench x0x0x

Welcome, Lunachick!  As other posters have said, you will not be sorry for getting the sleeve.  It leaves you with a fully functioning stomach, no malabsorption, no foreign object left in your body, etc., and the part of the stomach we are left with is not that stretchy.  The possibility of regain is less than with the bypass for that reason.

I had a very easy surgery, only the tiniest bit of discomfort for a couple of days, and have not had a single complication in the almost three years since.  I took three weeks off work because I had the time coming, but I could have gone back earlier.  I puttered around the house from the time I got home from the hospital and did all my light housework -- no lifting, but I could easily take care of myself.

The main thing I remember from the early days was to sip sip sip constantly -- water, broth, tea, crystal light, anything that would go down, and try all temperatures -- and walk walk walk, every 30 minutes or so.  Also lots of resting in between the sipping and walking!

Best wishes on your journey.  I don't think you will regret joining this bunch of sleevesters!

Welcome!!! l'm sure you'll be very happy with the sleeve.  Many people have been right where you are and have lost all of their weight.  lt seems like the closer you follow the rules at the beginning the more progress you'll have down the road.  Good luck to you!!!!
